No but they do like the idea of keeping their options open. There’s a reason they haven’t codified so many basic protections and relied on historical precedence and decorum instead.
And even with Trump they haven’t shown a willingness to admit their mistake and learn their lessons in this regard. They’ll write Trump off as a fluke and keep making all the same mistakes, including the repetition of many far-right talking points.
They feel like they’re winning as long as groups they don’t relate to are made to suffer even more.
This still serves their larger goal of portraying all of government (potentially representing the will of the people to some degree) as inefficient and unreliable. This furthers simplistic “strongman” attitudes, as well as the continued push for deregulation and privatisation.
More specifically, because they need to maintain the capitalist status quo that they sincerely believe in (it works for them!), so they believe fascism to be the lesser evil. And they think they can control fascism, just like last time.
That’s not quite the point. Minorities are extremely aware that things are worse under Trump.
The point is liberals pretending that things were just fucking awesome before, as if all the systemic issues that are now exacerbated haven’t been there before at all.
I love Donald Glover but not even this can convince me that Mr. and Mrs. Smith needed a Remake in 2025.
Their worldview doesn’t really allow for systemic analysis. Every bad thing has to have a singular individual cause. Status quo bias personified.

They keep each other in line but they don’t ‘cancel’ each other. A lot of it is just plausible deniability really.
Of course not. That’s the point. Fudge your own numbers to make Dems look worse by comparison, keep govt employees afraid of you, and further weaken public trust in government institutions. Win-win-win.
That’s a fair sentiment individually, but it’s not just an individual problem.
Men don’t just need to be not part of the problem, they need to actively be part of the solution.
What teaches Democrats to move left is to mobilize for them and stifle any criticism as they move further to the right.
