Can confirm, I had a very Southern manager at a job keep referring to me as Bubba and he didn’t understand why I didn’t like that. Of course, with this news that takes on a way weirder connotation lol

Been there and it sucks, I have also been stuck in a mortgage that had restrictions on refinancing and it also sucked. Anyone thinking they wouldn’t get gouged just as hard after giving up their fixed rate and refi ability are delusional or in on the grift.

WTF is with this articles shit talking of fixed rate rate mortgages that let you refinance without penalty? That is literally the only half-way consumer friendly thing we even have in our current scheme. They talk about how in the early 80s (one of the worst times ever to get a mortgage) they had a way shittier mortgage and how “happy” they were with it. That’s bullshit and their reasoning doesn’t pass muster. I suspect this was written by some finance ghoul trying to astroturf getting people onto more awful systems.

Even dumber, it was Revolutionary War airports. The redcoats were coming… in jets!

That is young compared to the rest of the Geriatric Old Pedophiles.

After seeing so many companies screw over long time and loyal employees, the lesson is clear that this guy at your company had the right idea.

I read “enmass” as “enemas” and I was in full agreement.

And yet, he keeps doing his best to mimic the supposed coming of the Anti-Christ. Just more Trump/Republican projection I guess.

That to me still feels like a variety of “scale”. All of these tools (Ansible is a great example) are of dubious benefit when your scale of systems is small. If you only have a single dev machine or server, having an infrastructure-as-code system or containerized abstraction layer, just feels to me like unnecessary added mental overhead. If this post had been in a community about FOSS development or general programming, I’d feel differently as all of these things can be of great use there. Maybe my idea of selfhosting just isn’t as grandiose as some of the people in here. If you have a room full of server racks in your house, that’s a whole other ballgame.

This is a big part of why I don’t use VMs or containers at home. All of those abstractions only start showing their worth once you scale them out.

I feel like this too. I do not feel comfortable using docker containers that I didn’t make myself. And for many people, that defeats the purpose.

Why would I want add overheard and complexity to my system when I don’t need to? I can totally see legitimate use cases for docker, and work for purposes I use VMs constantly. I just don’t see a benefit to doing so at home.

Yes, such dastardly plans.

Congrats!. I left a couple of years ago and I wish that I had sooner.

While that is entirely possible, I think the reason those were exempted here is because Trump wasn’t using the International Emergency Economic Powers Act to push them through.

Even if we cast aside their bullshit claims, that has nothing to do with whether it is illegal. Tariffs and taxes are always supposed to come from congress, this dumb fascist fuck just doesn’t care and keeps getting away with it.

haha that really brings me back.

The fact that you say using NFS makes you old makes me feel like fucking Yoda
Maybe it was the other way around and it was basically biblically accurate hentai tentacle stuff.
Just imagine how big his eyes will bug out when that happens!
