It’s required by imperial edict now.

Arming oneself is a feel-good consumer product in an increasingly uncertain political environment in the US.
Effective? No, as you have already pointed out, the State is always armed better than you.
Counter-productive? Yes, by directly funding the all right-wing arms industry, their army of government lobbyists, and putting more guns on the streets that increases the already-high risk of random gun violence.
Having a firearm in your home increases the risk of it being used against your family.
Feel good? Yes. A consumerist instant gratification to the need for security. Consumers are what Americans are trained to be.

Apparently so. I hadn’t heard about it before now.

Mel and Sly are no surprise.
John Voight is a surprise, considering how Angela Jolie runs. Must be a boomer thing

Kennedy was a lot younger at his inauguration (43) than Trump is now (78).

i.e. Americans don’t understand, or care, about democracy.
Got it.

Americans train their kids to become engineers, but after they graduate, companies like Musk’s won’t hire them because foreign H1-B engineers work cheaper.
FSD is less reliable compared to say Google’s Waymo. GM’s Cruise gave up on autonomous driving
China’s dubious state media, says their autonomous robotaxis are quite safe, and they’re rolling out fleets of them in major cities already
But I’m sure that bits and bobs in Tesla’s FSD systems have some value to someone.
The sad part is, that allowing Elon to export “Full Self Driving” or whatever other technology to China won’t even help Tesla that much, and will even harm the company in the long term:
The Chinese will just copy/steal the technology, because all foreign investment is through joint ventures with local corporations, and give it to their domestic manufacturers, like they did and continue to do with all other offshored production that winds up in their hands.
As a recent spate of articles about GM, Honda and Nissan, tells us, the Chinese domestic manufacturers now own 60% market share.
Tesla’s market share in China has dropped in nearly half over the last 3 months from 9/24 - 12/24, from 6.43% to 3.39%, and that was already down from 9% in 2023.

Nothing, but the US should be able to sell soybeans as well as, if not better than Brazil, or any other country.

Think about this: Fucking Brazil is now seen as a more reliable trading partner than the US.

“Violates interstate commerce, blah, blah…” Which the SCOTUS will ignore anyway.

A fabulist heading the FBI? This will be a disaster, if his other qualities shouldn’t disqualify him already…

Flying Spaghetti Monster letting Satan grab all the headlines.

…abolishing the DOE will reduce the tax burden on citizens living in blue states…
There’s no such thing as a “federal education funding tax” applied to each state to collectively fund education across the whole country.
The IRS will collect the same federal tax that it always has, but Republicans will funnel the former federal public education money to their pet projects: “crisis pregnancy centers,” the military, more tax cuts for billionaires, vouchers for discriminatory private schools, etc.
Therefore the Blue states will get even less federal funding in return for the federal taxes that their economies generate, but by no means will their federal tax burden go down.

Looking forward to headlines like “Trump Administration Emails Hacked by (insert foreign adversary)”
I hope they don’t steal all of our national secrets about drinking raw milk, and how to seduce 8 year olds by grabbing them by the pussy.
I’m sure that will do a lot, because border crossings from Mexico were down almost 80% from December 2023 to August 2024 .
