I used to play runescape with a neighbor from elementary school up through middle school. We even gifted each other membership a few times for birthdays.

Lost touch with him in high school, except for one time he showed off that he was up pretty high on the leaderboards and doing competitive shit.

Ran into him this weekend, it’s been like 20 years. Both had our kids out at a park. Caught up.on a bunch of stuff, but my dumb ass forgot to ask him if he still played, and what he though of the upcoming sailing skill release in Old School Runescape.

Skull tattoo. I’m sorry, most Americans are not so familiar with Nazi symbols to identify that specific skull design as Nazi. Swastika, SS, Iron Cross, sure. A skull and crossbones? So… your second point is just that you don’t agree with America’s involvement with those wars at all. Which is less to do with this guy than with America’s choices of war. Valid, I agree, but not a signpost that he’s a Nazi. Unless all Americans involved in those were secretly Nazis.

Look. I don’t think anyone’s calling him trustworthy or a good person, but this insistence that he must be a Nazi due to a tattoo that he’s gotten covered up, when he’s been so open about all of it is silly.

He didn’t try to get the photo taken down. He didn’t deny it. He didn’t get belligerant and say he wasn’t going to cover it up just to keep people mad. He’s not pretending he didn’t have it.

I’m keeping him on my radar, but when US politics is filled with so damn many overt and explicit racists and Nazis that are so damn comfortable being mask off, I’m not ready to stomp down on this guy yet.

A soldier, trained for warfare, and enjoying it is quite disturbing for people who never encounter it. I’m disturbed by it. That said, I’m not seeing anything about enjoying bloodshed there. He says he likes small wars because he feels there’s less inhumane brutality.

Is your problem that a soldier enjoys what they do? That makes them a Nazi?

I feel like your comment about killing civilians in the global south is making a big assumption that isn’t even really hinted at. In fact the opposite, as he talks about working with the local community.

V:tM fandom is considerably smaller than D&D, so it’s easier for caring voices to be heard because there’s less total jackasses, even though the proportion of decent person to jackass may be the same.

If 1/6 people are jackasses, and V:tM has 6000 fans, that’s only 1000 jackasses. If D&D has 60000, that’s 10000 jackasses, so a much higher chance their shitty opinions reach people due to absolute volume being higher even though the proportion is the same.

Please be proud, but understand it’s not because D&D fans are necessarily worse, there’s just so fucking much more of them.

You can also very easily disable it, or use a version of the site without it, unlike Google’s repeated insistence.

You also don’t need to make every enemy an idiot like a videogame. Monk catches an arrow? Archer wastes a turn figuring that out, calls it out to his teammates start of next turn and targets someone else.

A green dragon, depending on your source books, should be more than smart enough to notice its breath attack didn’t work on someone and change tactics.

It doesn’t work in every situation, like with enemies that shouldn’t be smart enough to figure it out, but there’s some great room for fun reminding your players that the enemies aren’t always braindead.

It also can add an extra layer to combat. Take out the commander that’s noticing this stuff to prevent it. Kill the archer before he can call out the monk caught his arrow, so another archer wastes a turn.

My biggest complaint with BG3. So many act 1 battles feel like if you can’t take out at least one enemy each turn you just get ankle bit to death.

You’re a shopkeep and someone comes in. They want a discount on something. They grab their pendant, a staff, or some shit from their bag, then do a short chant and hand movements.

Even if you don’t know specifically the magic they’re doing, you know something fishy is up. In my opinion, that’s gonna limit the effectiveness by tanking the shopkeep’s opinion of you as you cast. Maybe have a friend distract them while you cast so they don’t notice, or do some prestidigitation tricks first to get them comfy with you magic-ing in their shop.

Too many people treat charm and similar spells like videogames. Pause time, chug 5 potions and eat 12 cheese wheels. Magic casting gets no response unless the end result does damage. If your DM allows that, fine. But IMO the whole “hold up I need to try and manipulate this guy’s mind out in public, or in front of their guards, they won’t mind if I try that” tends to take me right out of it.

And that’s without thinking about stuff like wealthy shop owners selling mundane items being able to get an anti magic field, bodyguards, or other options against this sort of thing.

Pretty sure there’s an old 4chan greentext about “Grug the angry carpenter” who succeeded a stealth check by using intimidation. “No one see Grug, and who do, know better to.”

That could make for a fun little side plot setup. Whole town is convinced it’s haunted, but it’s just some guy who doesn’t have a good grasp on common stuck in a cursed ring of invisibility.

Arguably if the speed was increased it might get results, but I think it’d just be more likely that they’d burn some of their stupid amounts of money on more security and stuff like popemobile booths.

At the end of the day the US populace can’t provide meaningful resistance to the full might of our military industrial complex, if things were to ever get that far. And I don’t think that our currenr administration would have any issues misusing our military for protection of these assholes.

So we have to organize. If we truly want to overwhelm the military, we’d need to overwhelm them with literal piles of bodies.

If we want to attempt less bloodshed and lives lost, which I would hope most people would want, than we still need to organize and put up a strong front while turning their “allies on the ground” to our side. That means that yes, we need to start doing more concentrated effort to turn our asshole republican neighbors instead of just shunning them. Start sharing techniques and talking points for slowly turning folks, build up your tolerance so you can spend time in their presence slowly dropping the seeds because changing people’s minds takes time.

On the other end, start pulling normal people currently just voting Democrat into more action like showing up to city council votes, into community service and support organizations, and make sure that we’re broadcasting these public goods well and with good branding. Increase engagement across the board.

Do like the “best” Christian groups do and just do unimpeachable good loudly while quietly wearing the affiliation on your sleeve to draw people in, then turn them when they already see you as a good person doing good things.

None of these techniques are new, especially in the Christian church. We just need to fight the feelings of hopelessness, isolation, and the “well your idea of better isn’t my exact idea of better” purity test bullshit you see from people online who for example won’t be satisfied until the end of capitalism entirely… so that we present a united front as a force for general good.

Turning Point USA will stumble for a bit while they find a new talking head capable of carrying their bullshit platform, but there’s a glut of right wing influencers (and people willing to play one for money) that will fill the gap.

Exchange Server is effectively dead mid October too. Technically they have Exchange Server SE as an option, but it’s clearly not how they want people using Exchange anymore. They don’t even want hybrid setups.

Which is extra annoying because if you have Azure AD (I guess it’s Entra ID now) syncing from an on prem AD forest, half of the mailbox management shit in Exchange Online just doesn’t work and forces you to make the changes on-prem anyway.
