What makes you think she is telling the truth now after years of lying to acquire wealth and privilege? If she is actually sorry then there will be actions taken to correct the awful things she’s done and not just apologies. Thinking she’s the only one who can fix it is a continuation of narcissism and hubris that led to the apology in the first place. The district she represents has around 800k people last census, none are qualified and have a better moral compass demonstrated by a voting history seems a long stretch.

Because nobody should trust what she says until her actions align with her apology and not more lies from someone who is just trying to hang on to the wealth and power they gathered by being a terrible person.

The majority on this vote is also not the whole story. A reason that R needs a larger majority is because of the filibuster rules allowing D to block the vote. R currently has enough power to remover the filibuster rules and force a vote they can win on majority. But both parties rely on filibuster for decades to block legislation without having to justify their reasons.

I agree, I don’t think politicians will spearhead the change, it needs to come from labor and student unions pushing for widespread strikes. The reason I think May 1st 2028 is the best target is because of unions coordinating the expiration of labor contacts for that date, because Taft-Hartley basically outlaws coordinating strikes between unions.

Congress hasn’t been able to pass an amendment since the 90s, and even that was mostly theater regarding their own compensation proposed in the 1700s. The last real amendment was passed in 1971 lowering the voting age to 18. It’s been almost 60 years. Most Americans don’t know what a functional federal legislature within their own country even looks like.
