They are beholden to the same investors. It’s the investors that pick whenever we get rainbow flavored wage slavery or nazi flavored slave-wagery for the next 4 years. It seems that our overlords decided that it’s too costly to put effort into pretending that that’s not the case, so we got this piece of shit basicially saying the quiet part out loud. I am actually surprised how little backlash from the USA citizens happened so far, but I hope the guilottines get deployed soon, because it gets embarassing watching this farce.

Doubting that this is the case, seeing how they are trying to push back against protests against Republicans, is just delusional. I refuse to believe them to be so incompetent, that they constantly act against their own interests and boost MAGA message instead. Bernie gets way more attention from the public than everything they are doing right now combined, and they barely acknowledge he exists.
I’m all for building class consciousness and having people be involved deeply and personally in politics, but USA absolutely isn’t there yet. You need populist messaging and need to make sure people see you in good light if you want to win elections. People didn’t believe Harris nor Biden what they were saying about Trump, even though those things were true. People had few bad years economically, and while they knew it was due to covid, they blamed Dems. It was irrational, just as Trump’s image as a working men ally, but the electorate isn’t moved by rationality, but rather - you got it - vibes. Entire charade about inflation was a lie, but they failed to communicate that. They added fuel to the fire by even acknowledging the illegal immigrants narrative, despite everything showing that both legal and illegal immigrants commited far less crimes on average than USA born citizens. They cracked down on pro-palestinian protests and fed the antisemitic conspiracy theories. It goes on, and on, and on. And I get that you might disagree with me on whenever those things were good or not, but it doesn’t matter, if they can’t make more people think Dems have their best interests in mind. It’s literally the single job they have during the campaign, and if they can’t instill the feeling that people must vote for them or else fascists will win, then it’s on them. They did it wrong. You can’t expect people that doesn’t care about politics to rally up behind them spontaneously, they need to be rallied. You can’t expect people passionate about human lives not to protest a genocide, you need not to support it and not give them a reason to protest. And no, I’m not talking about protesting as in not voting - we already had several rounds of surveys that showed beyond any doubt, that those people in swing states voted almost exclusively for Harris, despite their grievances. It was mostly people who felt neither side had anything good to offer that failed to show up. And it’s those people, who aren’t interested in politics, who just want to do their thing, that Harris and her staff was supposed to convince, but the vibes were off, children died, protestors got maced and locked up, and lies about immigration and inflation were left not debunked. They came out strong after announcement of the ticket and got a record high funds from small value donations, but quickly changed their tune to pro-corporate businesses as usual, and the median voter visibly wasn’t convinced by that. The surveys showed that people felt the economy was bad, so how could the messaging of “we won’t change shit” convince them? Price gouging bit was good, too bad it was dropped stright away within a week. Tim Walz calling the fascist out was very good, but he got muzzled almost immediately. And then what, Liz Cheney? Bill Clinton telling Arabs in Michigan that “Jews were there first”? I mean, come on, you can’t say you believe they did great and that their messaging was impeccable. And even if you somehow do, voters didn’t, and you need at the very least to acknowledge that fact. The messaging was ineffectual, and that’s on Dems. They also cultivated the image of government that is immune to change and stagnant, although that’s not the issue with campaign but with their politics in general, and that made their electorate less interested when very radical change threatened them. Some people were radicalized specifically by this percieved stagnation and voted Trump just for something to change. Harris and her team had a lot of material to work with, but decided to keep to the old and tested playbook instead, which, judging by the elections results, was a mistake. People that were somewhat interested in politics and believed that Trump was bad, voted overwhelmingly for Harris, even if they disliked her or her campaign, but that’s a drop im a bucket. Most people don’t care, and you need politicians to reach them to make them care - or else they might blame them for something bad in their lives, maybe completely unrelated, maybe not, and just vote out of spite for the opposition, or maybe just wallow in apathy and not vote at all. I hope I made my point clearer, if it wasn’t transparent previously.
They weren’t unaware of the policy because of “whining”, but because Dems failed to effectively communicate their proposals. They also failed to combat misinformation from the right, but this I’ll forgive them for this one because at the very least they had opponent in that field that pushed back. That’s not the case for their atrocious campaign that bled voters left and right.
If Americans are unaware or not happy with the candidate stances on various policies, that’s entirely the candidate fault. And when the stances they’re aware of are “I wouldn’t do anything differently than Joe Biden” when JB had to be switched out from the race due to his unpopularity, then the candidate just digs their electoral grave.
You’re entirely missing the point of my previous comment. Dems lost, because they couldn’t make their voters feel like they were the right choice. You’re sarcastic about “vibing” but it’s exactly what required for politician to win an elections. People aren’t wise and don’t delve in deep in policy, as it is excellently shown by morons playing catch up with economic difficulties Trump’s rule already brought. It’s politician job to make their electorate trust them. It is their failure if they can’t (or don’t want to, if they are bought as controlled opposition) make that happen. You really can’t say that “Dems had great campaign but people didn’t like it” because it’s precisely the popularity that makes the campaign great. And no, Harris and her team had terrible campaign, and lost to the opponent that was very easy to trip up and expose. You trying to blame people for not vibing with genocide doesn’t help either. And if me telling you that Dems had bad campaign “lowers your faith in humanity”, then it seems you might be in a cult and not be ready for a mature discussion about the direction that Dems politics will take them. You might want to have that checked out.
People didn’t vote for Harris because her campaign sucked ass, it’s her and her staff who failed to convince people to vote for her, not people who voiced their dissatisfaction with her proposed policy. They need to do better, and if they do, then people excercising their freedom of speech on the internet won’t sway votes away from the party. Idea that people shouldn’t be allowed to complain about the genocide because it voices loudly the dissatisfaction over the party actions and that may lead to lower voter turnout is flawed to it’s core. Those comments are the symptom of the problem, the sign that there is something wrong with the way they directed the campaign, not the source of it. You will get nowhere by silencing the dissidents, you need to take away their reasons to complain, not their means. Until Dems learn this lesson, they won’t win elections again, not with the antiestabilishment vibes and lack of trust towards the government that are prevailent im USA. Not only this messaging of censure won’t work, it will only piss off the electorate and alienate them further. Before the elections I have assumed that this campaign to shame people into voting was a psy op, but it seems like it’s actually their position on the matter, which definitely makes me think they’re controlled opposition at this point. They can’t actually think this kind of messaging helps them in any way, right? This arrogant approach is specifically why Republican electorate hates them. If they want to win, like, ever, they need to work on that.

At least it seems to me that’s the guy.
And honestly speaking I’m not sure myself if “tankie” should apply to China, seeing how most of their bad shit happend internally with the notable exceptions of Taiwan and Hong Kong, which are a stretch. There is a distinctive difference between Russia and China, despite both belonging to same political alliance and both have a dictatorial leaderships. Hating west/USA and loving either of them would make one a campist, but I’m not sure about that qualifyng as tankie. Naturally, most campists support both, so by that definition it would make them tankies.
While your definition does describe tankies as well, I always understood it to be a derogatory term for the general authoritarian communist/pseudo-communist block more so than applying to all national supermacists.
I mean that would mean I believe that they’re imperialists supporting the case of white supremacy - I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch to claim that most USA supported conflicts have the purpose of benefitting the western world, which is based on white supremacy - and most likely are either politicaly illiterate and are unaware (willingly or by ignorance) of what USA is doing, or are sociopaths. They’re not tankies by virtue of not being pro post soviet dictatorships, but when it comes to the callousness towards loss of innocent human lives, they’re uh… Pretty bad. I’m not making a comparison though, I feel that’s like asking which of two shits stinks worse, and we can clearly see that both defecators had varied and distinctive diets.

politics @lemmy.world•Devastated Harris voters conclude America just hates women as Trump wins again
105·2 years agoWhile there were many detrimental factors Dems failed to properly address or apparently expected to be treated as positives, the obvious main one was attempting to outflank the GOP from the right. Every attempt to talk negatively about immigration or social issues was bound to result in more people taking Trump seriously instead of thinking Dems will do something. Everything about the illegal immigration rethoric was false, from the numbers to the effects, and Dems knew it - they decided they wanted to pretend this issue exists, so they can also play the right wing populist game. Pro-genocidal rethoric was also something right wing electorate knew Trump would do better, and some people disgusted with that rethoric decided not to vote. Dems wanted to become more right wing, to get that sweet ability to talk complete bullshit about everything and cover their inefficiencies with the mirages of bigotry. They believed their more “reasonable” right wing populist will win instead of wild maniacy like Trump - exactly as they did back in 2016, except this time Kamala had the chance to shape a different image for herself and she refused to do so. They gambled going to get away with moving further right and still getting elected, since Trump should have been very unpopular by all metrics they were capable of imagining. Instead, they gained no votes from the right and lost a fuck ton from the center and the left. Their arrogant and callous campaign sentenced many americans to likely death. They absolutely could have fought with all they had and ceded concessions to their voters instead of donors and “allies” like Israel. They could have went left instead of right, as many of us hoped after the Walz VP pick. Instead they lost, as the worse and less dedicated right wing party of US. They’re to blame for what’s going to happen next, not some abstract impossible to be pointed with finger voters. Yeah, Harris being a black woman in this deeply conservative society was a detriment to her chances. That was outside of her control, unlike everything else she did or didn’t do.
I’ll be honest, unless most of the Democratic Party gets purged, it’s probably meaningless to vote for them (assuming you even can) in 2028. There couldn’t have been easier victory to be had, and they fucked it up. They should have called Trump a pedophile, but were afraid that their own pedophiles like Clinton would get hit with a shrapnell. They could have promised to tax the ultra rich, like Elon Musk down to the fucking ground, but they wanted their money themselves. They didn’t want to promise anything big, knowing fully well that no one would believe them with their terrible track record of implementing any meaningful and radical chances, while Trump claimed everything was the fault of immigrants and foreign adversaries and promised radical actions against them. Believing that they wont pull the same bullshit in 2028 is naive, they will refuse to learn anything from this catastrophe, move further right and campaign on “returning to the norm”. Fuck them. Let the greedy fucks burn, just as you will because of them. USA needs a third (and fourth, and fifth…) party, and it needs it now instead of in 4 years. Dems should be completely discarded, and I hope the pain you will feel in next 4 years, pain that they could have prevented but chose not to instead, will convince you as well.
Yeah, I’m done, sorry for the rant. Posts casting blame on voters instead of Dems majorly piss me off right now.
She didn’t? I believe that’s exactly what she came across as when she said she wouldn’t do anything different if she were to call the shots instead of Biden and also reminded everyone she signed off on most of his decisions. Sure, she lost votes because of sexism as well, but instead of fresh air she chose to bring stale coffin smell to the fart battle and lost to the stink Trump was all too happy to discharge. And that coffin did smell of a old white dude, let me tell you.
That being said, for such a gigantic loss against someone as obnoxious as Trump, there had to be a lot of factors in play. Sexism and stagnation of the party being just a tip of the iceberg.

Political Memes@lemmy.world•I'd like to think they're all just Russian trolls but increasingly, I think some people are just selfish or dumb.
1330·2 years agoYeah but those people helping Trump get elected are the Dems pretending genocide is fine. Say what you want about lesser evil but it really isn’t the smartest political move to alienate voters who think genocide is bad. The messaging of “if you draw the line at genocide then you’re the problem” and blaming voters for not vibing with that instead of, for example, dropping support for Israel and stopping the genocide is just straight up terrible politics. You should be mad at Dems for royally fucking the campaign up instead at people for not buying into this bullshit. Did you also support Biden remaining as candidate after the debate, despite atrocious polling data?
I do get that there is foreign interference going on, but seriously if you were attempting to sway anyone towards the Dems by shaming people for being against genocide - the obviously weakest point of Dems campaign - then in my eyes you’re most likely the Russian bot trying to remind people that Dems are terrible. And if you aren’t and you actually tried to convice anyone with this argument, then shut the fuck up until the elections are over, if anything you’re costing Kamala votes.

Political Memes@lemmy.world•We'll have a long memory as things get worse for working class Americans, minorities and women
21·2 years agoI literally said that the rethoric was fascist, not person. Fascism is an ideology as well as movement, and people regardless of political power they hold can follow a ideology, so even if I wasn’t referring to rethoric it would still be viable to call someone a fascist - not that it should be done on the basis of single shitty meme. If you believe that communism is the best political system there is, then you are a communist. If you give examples and advocate for this system, then you’re most likely using rethoric that is recognizeably communist, as in, it conveys the message favourable for communism. I’ve already outlined why the message coming from the post is fascist in my oryginal comment. Your claim that one requires a degree of political power in order to be identified by the ideology they believe in would be invalid in terms of USA politics even if it was true - since USA citizens have the right to vote for whomever they want (which the OP tried to restrain with the use of threats) they do hold actual political power and influence, regardless how small it is. I’ve already explained in more details how the rethoric itself was fascist in another comment, referring to the definition and all that. Also, dancing around the definition to whitewash the condemned action is really pointless unless you’re trying to intentionally muddy the water. Convincing people to vote for specific candidate with threats of them being ousted for not doing that is directly what both Mussolini and Hitler did. Mussolini used that tactic in parliamentary elections in 1924, and Sturmabteilung did that in 1932, keeping watch by the pooling stations and threatening voters. Those people absolutely were fascists by any modern definition, and used this rethoric to achieve the same result as one that was intended here. If that isn’t enough red flags for you to call this rethoric fascist, then I don’t think there is enough common ground between our positions to engage in reasonable discussion.

51·2 years agoFrom wikipedia:
Fascism a far-right, authoritarian, ultranationalist political ideology and movement, characterized by a dictatorial leader, centralized autocracy, militarism, forcible suppression of opposition, belief in a natural social hierarchy, subordination of individual interests for the perceived good of the nation or race and strong regimentation of society and the economy.
While it definitely describes Republican party as a whole, I specifically mentioned rethoric as being fascist, as in, one fascists would use. In this case I made a reference to “subordination of individual interests for the perceived good of the nation or race” part as well, to lesser degree, to “forcible suppression of opposition” as threats can be seen as such. For rethoric to be pro-something it doesn’t need to encapsulate all aspects of said thing, for example you can see pro-leftist rethoric mentioning workplace democracy and not including being against opression of miniorities. “Education should be free” is a leftist rethoric despite not mentioning trans genocide.
It definitely could be a right wing psy op, as someone mentioned. Dems are way too meek to go that far imo.

5611·2 years agoAs non-american I agree you guys should definitely vote Harris, despite Dems being terrible Trump would absolutely be worse on each topic Dems are bad. That being said, rethoric of this post is straight up facist. Using threats of personal consequences for “wrongly” exercising ones right to vote is wild.
I don’t think many people on lemmy conflate marxism with leninism outside of .ml, and even there folks seems to see leninism as something on top of marxism and not inherently mixed.
And then we also have people who feel stalinist style “communo facism” would work well because everyone you like will be fed and everyone you don’t like will be dead. I don’t think anyone ever liked those people, including themselves.
I’m proud I didn’t vote Blue in 2016 and 2020. I’m not from the USA so it would be a voter fraud if I did.
That being said, dems are completely incompetent when it comes to elections, deliberately picking such terrible candidates like Hillary and Biden. I don’t believe there are actual people that voted Blue because of seeded candidate and not despite it.
I see republican voters shooting republican candidates as pretty much reasonable outcome rather than some newly emergent threat to democracy. Trump made his image himself, it was him who decided to harass miniorities and brag about reading Mein Kampf often. It was him who made republican message extreme, provoked an insurrection, had all those criminal charges and appointed obviously corrupt judges. He groomed americans into feeling insecure and threatened and radicalized a lot of them. I think random depressed kids trying to suicide by shooting him is the least he should expect, especially seeing that USA has a gun cult focused around right to bear arms against threats to democracy. Also a child rapist, which alone is enough for millions of people to pull the trigger. You’re seriously blaming his bad image on anyone else?

In Polish, bela could mean shaft or bolt. While not what I’d personally call it, it’s hard to ignore the fact he just had a meeting with Putin. Maybe he taught him some new words.
