The problem with neoliberalism is that eventually, you run out of other people’s things to sell.

5·11 months agoIt’s all part of the American gun myth where they tell each other they could overthrow their government with their hunting rifles and the military won’t just mortar their dreams away before they even saw it coming because they feel like the military will refuse to, for reasons they can’t explain.
That way, they can justify their crazy lack of gun control and all the school children who get murdered due to it.
IMO, It’s all interlinked.

No worries, I’m sure done worse this week alone.
Yeah, Koine Greek is common Greek, at the time. In my defense, its unlikely that they would’ve called it ancient Greek back then 😁.
So, to me, it i would figure that he would’ve spoken common Greek, in the way they use English in India, back in the days of the British empire. Of course, there’s no way to be sure of that. Either way, anything approaching primary documents would’ve been in Greek, to a point where it might not even matter what language Jesus actually used.
Where did you get that idea from?
Greek was the lingua franka of the Eastern med and his first language would’ve been aramaic. So, why would he ignore his first and second languages, to speak Turkish to a Jewish and roman audience?
Mark 14:51, 52. The actual ancient Greek is quite clear about the practically naked young (pre-pubescent being the closest comparative term) boy. They all would’ve been conversing in ancient Greek and the earliest records of the bible are in ancient Greek.
Here’s another thing to think about. How old do you reckon the disciples were? Imagine, if you will, that our kneejerk answer comes from Renaissance era paintings and those alone and you need to aim the number significantly south of that. They were not older than Jesus.
Never ask a trumper why they dont want the Epstein files released,
Big bird why they never got cookie monster any help
Or, a Christian what Jesus was doing with that partially dressed young boy in the garden of gethsemane and why Peter, James and John had to keep watch for him, from a distance.
Wizard: I shall also wear armour.
Fantasy lore: no, you can’t wear that.
Wizard: why? I’m going to be fighting too. I don’t want to get stabbed by the first guy I see and die.
Fantasy lore: no, it wouldn’t be fair on the giant dragon or the deamons I’m sending you to fight. Enjoy your robe.

2·1 year agoI get what you’re saying but I’m not sure the choice is as chosen (for want of a better term). People are given just enough to lose, if they try to buck the system. Almost everyone is an informant. Especially at work.
For sure, they can’t neutralise everyone but they only have the neutralise a certain amount. I’m not talking about people like you and me who refuse to question the first things we were ever told about the world.
Docile and subservient to a ruling class. I’d say, through no fault of their own, gen z has been psy-oped since they were born. They would be the best example now.
I understand and feel the same frustration that I think would lead to the conclusion you came to. I don’t think you’re stupid or crazy for thinking it. If you’re saying it in terms of “no ones coming to save us. The working class won’t rise up in glorious revolution” then i think we’re on the same chapter, if not the same page.
It’s so refreshing to have a civil disagreement with someone. Considering the state of the rest of the Internet, I always like to show any third party who might read this that the above is how it could be.

6·1 year agoWith the first comment, you seem to be making out as if it’s a choice we made, to have the worst of humanity rule over us.
The reality is, the worst of humanity forced themselves on us and we’ve had little to no choice over the matter. If we voted for good people and only bought from good people, the bad people would simply neutralise them.
Billionaires do NOT reflect the general population. They manipulate the general population into their preferred image which, I can agree, might look similar.

Capital will always side with the far right and the far right will always mobilise on their behalf.
Fascism is just capitalism when you try to say no. I mean that literally too. Fascism rose as a direct response to socialism (people trying to say no to capitalism). In Europe, wealthy landowners and the aristocracy funded and empowered these groups, terrified that they might lose their power. The CIA have been finding far right groups all over the world for decades too.
Despite what they tell you, at its heart, the far right ideology is corporatism: a corporate state (the true antithesis of lefism is privately owning the means of production and the community, as a whole). After all, what’s more top-down, ubermen watching over the lowers, ruthless, “traditional” value, established power, amoral, consumed with greed and the will to dominate than a corporation, left with no oversight?
*Invasion --------> liberate
We already have that one. It’s true too. They’ll liberate you back into the stone ages. They’ll liberate you so hard, your great grandchildren will still feel the pain of it.

Political Memes@lemmy.world•The US is so racist, even the rise of Fascism gets blamed on minorities.
7·2 years agoAs an outsider, my guess is to construct and and cultivate the idea that minorities vote in a block. I mean, no one literally needs to be told that non white people all vote for the same person or anything. However, it only has to work just enough to make just enough white people vote down racial lines.
Still, its nice to see the Americans have a Duke of Kennedy ruling over them aagain. It seems to make them happy.

Funny, that’s what we call the American war of independence.
