Going with the dollar value doesn’t do much and is not a good enough indicator.
If a community were almost fully bartering and had all means of production, or had their own local currency, which they then didn’t trade with the Govt, you could also get similar values.

There are better ways to prove your point, like the level of adulteration in basic food resources, the quality of housing etc.

If you still want to go with the dollar value, you need to then normalise it using a price index, which you can create against the dollar value of certain types of goods, which then have to be calculated for similar products in both places (the country with the source currency and the one you are comparing it with).

  • I want to create a world where each person give according to their ability and take according to their need.

I don’t like the way that line is phrased.
This can very easily lead to overexploitation of all those who are honest and sincere, while helping those who can easily lie. How so?:

    • I don’t need an air cooled room or even electricity at my house

    • I don’t need to have good food, as is proven by me surviving 3+ years overpaying for shitty food

    • I don’t need access to the Fediverse, or to be able to discuss things with people across the world

    • I am able to work 13+ hours a day

    • I am able to work in a place full of toxic fumes, until I die early because of it

    • I am able to shut up while the politicians masquerading as engineers, dump all the consequences of their wrongdoings onto me

And guess what, so can you, but those who are good at lying, can easily convince the system otherwise.
So while I would want to live a better life, eat better food and do some work for myself, I can’t, because I can, “not do it”.

In the end, it’s all up to execution and there will always be those, who would like to twist the words to get their way.

  • That absolutely makes sense.

I don’t do tabletop, but when I start a new game and am playing it the first time, I don’t go around reading guides. This gives me the fun that people say they don’t get from games nowadays.

e.g. Playing DOS2:DE, it was from reading something in-game that I realised that Trolls were regenerative and weak to fire. Then I proceeded to splotch poison on them and then fire up the poison puddle.
And of course, I hadn’t played a game with trolls before and didn’t know about their special characteristics. But even if I had played such a thing, I would go into another game with a fresh mind, because just having the same name doesn’t make the the same entity in 2 different worlds.

So yesterday, I started thinking about a thing.
    Thought quite a bit.

Started jotting it down and lost half of what I thought.

    Nobody interrupted me.
It was just me, switching from lying down and thinking to getting up and typing.
The same happens in case I am using a pen and paper to write instead.

    tl;dr normal ⇒ usual
    normal ⇏ desirable

<rant> It is normal, same as it was normal for most people to die after being treated by a doctor in the pre-modern-medicine period.
Same as it is normal for people to start needing eye correcting glasses around 25y (quote from a qualified professional doctor).
Same as it is normal to be absolutely drained after just 8 hours of working on a desk, because it is also normal to have a closed-loop AC system with the only opening in the room (the main door) having people smoking tobacco on the other side. </rant>

  • What makes stuff like the [X] button on the corner and Alt+F4 intuitive?
Multiple years of having used MS Windows and similar looking software as a student.

They got the marketing part right here, at least.

But if we are being inclusive, nothing really is intuitive.

I have seen BTech graduates struggle with installing software using the Wizard that is so omnipresent on Windows, so I don’t expect anything to be intuitive at this point.
