Trick question. Some of these have two and thus should be deselected.

politics @lemmy.world•Trump to offer Putin access to Alaska's natural resources in exchange for ending war
8·1 year agoOK so… Not that its stopped him before, but can he legally do this? Is this within the powers of the presidency?

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Backblaze is slow for Nextcloud. Any recommendations for faster s3 compatible storage?English
4·1 year agoI haven’t used nextcloud in years. Has it gotten any better with external storages, specifically when there are many files in one directory? It used to time out/become unresponsive in that situation, and make many unnecessary database requests/updates.

3·2 years agoWell, using OBS to put together the different aspects of video and audio that you want, then outputting a virtual camera source for another app to pick up seems like it could work for you if you spend the time setting it up… Except for anyone that doesn’t have the internet to see a video stream - that seems tough to work with.

3·2 years agoOne minute for you and me, but that sort of thing just isn’t feasible for many even if they have someone walking them through it over the phone.
Unfortunately I dont have the time or willpower to go into detail and I do disagree with how you want change to come about, but if what you want happens, I truly hope it results in a better society for people to live in. I think we can both agree we just want things to be better for people.
I respectfully disagree that the party could never change due to their current funding, and I am rubbed the wrong way by how you continue to seem to push that I shouldn’t support better politicians just because they aren’t perfect.
Bernie and those like him have informed me and many others of what a good politician can look like and may have inspired others like AOC to start their career. I will support them as much as I can because they may inspire even more like them to actually have enough people to make a meaningful change in the party or, if we miraculously get away from the two party system, spin up a new one.

politics @lemmy.world•How can people support Luigi Mangione but vote in droves to deny health care to others?
161·2 years agoFox News and other right-wing networks convince them they are voting for (or more frequently against) something else. Most of those people simply don’t know, and won’t believe you if you tell them.
Sorry if I’m being unintentionally obtuse, this is a genuine question, what’s not normalized about it? I can’t remember the last time I had a conversation about my faith or lack thereof. Could just be my location and circles I hang out with, but I don’t know many people, especially my age or younger, who really care one way or another.
Would probably flow more naturally and avoid unwanted conversation if you used “on earth” or something else universally experienced instead of “in athieism” which leads to the same problem you were complaining about but from a different group.

politics @lemmy.world•Once Again, the Democratic Leadership Has Failed Us All
92·2 years agoThe government allowed lies to be told on TV and on the internet under the guise of news. There were no real consequences to those who had listeners and repeated foreign government talking points for money. We have not seen any real investigation on how much interference was ran on social media.
Nearly every human being believes that they are a good person making rational decisions, so its important to examine the environment around these people to where they can believe they made the right choice when it comes to electing Trump and sadly, it seems our mostly unregulated free speech that let it happen, because the republican party is more organized and effective in communicating their platform and slandering their opponents than democrats are, and they motivated more people to vote than the democrats could as a result. Anger and hate are strong emotions and motivators, and unfortunately the republicans keep on using them and it keeps on working.
I have no idea what you’re blaming Lemmy on, if anything I’d expect the userbase here to be more active and left-leaning voters than average. People have a good reason to be frustrated, and I think pointing that frustration at the only alternative option we had for a political party failing election after election to learn how to communicate and how to deliver on what the people really want is a reasonable take.

I would consider his stacking of courts, and those courts making decisions on electoral cases, to be impacting elections.
