Their entire voting base is doggedly fixed on the idea of turning up to vote even if they hate the candidate or even the current party platform. At the other end you have people who who consider not voting to be a high-minded protest, who only turn up for candidates who are ideologically pure enough: in other words, voters who represent no threat at all and can be ignored. Is it any wonder that those who only care about having power cater to the people who will still vote for you while you piss on them?

  • Grok has clearly been instructed to defend Charlie Kirk in every context and to assert he “wins” in any given situation. Right-wing people like Kirk and Musk are obsessed with image and not losing face. Grok, like Kirk was programmed to simulate the kind of rationalizations and vernacular that appeal to right-wingers, and so it tries to spin-doctor Kirk getting capped as “actually he’s fine lol shut up nerd”. I think it’s hilarious, because it implies “Defend Charlie Kirk” is excruciatingly over-emphasized in the LLM’s instruction set to compensate for the fact that Kirk actually got humiliated regularly.

  • People like that, who almost universally profess Christian faith, should be attentive to the words of the early Church fathers on the intrinsically corrupting nature of wealth:

“The rich are in possession of the goods of the poor, even if they have acquired them honestly or inherited them legally.”
    — John Chrysostom

“You are not making a gift of your possession to the poor person. You are handing over to him what is his.”
    — Ambrose of Milan

“The property of the wealthy holds them in chains […] which shackle their courage and choke their faith and hamper their judgment and throttle their souls. They think of themselves as owners, whereas it is they rather who are owned: enslaved as they are to their own property, they are not the masters of their money but its slaves.”
    —Cyprian

And for a direct Bible passage, it’s hard to be more succinct than James.

  • Technically, sure, but Howard Stern was only subversive in the sense that you can Subvert Societal Norms by deliberately shitting yourself on the bus. It’s not a good idea to say he’s part of the left when the only defining through line on his ideology is that he bucks all forms of authority and rejects the concept of propriety regardless of its alignment. I like that he hates Donald Trump, I get that the enemy of my enemy is my friend and all that, but in this case, the enemy of my enemy is a genuinely mean-spirited degenerate who never misses an opportunity to punch down at his subordinates nor at literally every woman he sees, speaks to, or knows about. Far from being on the left, I find it hard to say he’s really all that much more than just a lazier, radio-focused version of Morton Downey Jr.
