Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Recomendations please for a self-hosted contact form on VPS (RESOLVED)English
1·11 months agoif you’re satisfied with your existing comments function, can you simply enable comments on your ‘contact’ page and hide them from public view?
I was also struggling with DNS issues all day so this is what I am putting in place for now. Yah, good enough is good enough. Thanks for the idea.

1·11 months agoOK, that’s amazing but also probably more than I need. My form just has like three fields. But thanks for the idea.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•What is a good self-hosted solution for sharing files with friends?English
5·11 months agoYou can consider using a Pikapods service for this. It’s dead simple to strand up a server when you need one.
https://www.pikapods.com/apps#storage
They have Gokapi and/or PrivateBin for just about a buck per month. You can turn the service on and off whenever you like. Good company to work with, IME, too.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Those who don't use dashboards, how are you managing your services?English
5·1 year agoDoes dockge count as a dashboard?
'Cause I use that to quickly check on what’s running, what’s stopped. Then I do most of my mainenance in a terminal, via SSH to the server.
I do this a lot now too, Jeena. Ignore the down votes.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Have you tried self-hosting your own email recently?English
1·1 year agoOK, thank you. I’m sure this is why people always say self hosting email is not for beginners.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Have you tried self-hosting your own email recently?English
2·1 year agoI am not OP but I love the idea of selhosting email. This is stopping me though:
… set it up correctly with a healthy IP address and domain (not blacklisted)
Any tips on how to accomplish this?

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•introducing copyparty, the FOSS file serverEnglish
25·1 year agoThe fact you mention security features, without ever saying it’s ‘super secure’ tells me you know a lot about what you’re doing. I’m so sick of apps like this that start with “most secure app on the net” but you know they’re delusional. Thank you, going to check this out.
I didn’t realize I need the same thing until I read your post.
AgenDAV is in maintenance mode, but they also say:
New features may be added by PRs however. New features may be proposed in issues tickets, send as Pull Requests, and the maintainers will review and presumably merge them. PRs for bugfixes are welcome and will be reviewed & merged.
I’m going to check it out.

39·1 year agoFor those like me still learning.
Linux Containers (LXC) is an operating system-level virtualization method for running multiple isolated Linux systems (containers) on a control host using a single Linux kernel.

3·1 year agoI want to add dockge, for making it easy to manage / update your docker containers.

Love it. Saves me lots of time.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•VERY simple web-based reliable file browser/hostingEnglish
7·1 year agoLike others said, if you just want to let people download files from your server, use a directory listing.
For my self-hosting though, I use FileBrowser and it’s very simple but still works well.

I don’t really understand what I am seeing here, so I have to ask – are these Security issues a concern?
https://github.com/TecharoHQ/anubis/security
I have a server running a few tiny web sites, so I am considering this, but I’m always concerned about the possibility that adding more things to it could make it less secure, versus more. Thanks for any thoughts.
