Great to read the story from Adventure Log’s author. I just installed that app and I’m looking forward to trying to help improve it.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Selfhosting static site behind two routers?English
4·1 year agoHey, I’m doing this now, using DuckDNS. But I had to forward a port thru Router 1, as you call it. That’s your problem.
Maybe Tailscale would help you? (I’ve not used it though)
Or, instead of allowing port 80/443 traffic in, what I have is a random port used by my Wireguard VPN opened only. But I have to connect thru that when I’m not at home. I. E. only I can access my web server.

Political Memes@lemmy.world•Natalism: The New HotnessEnglish
331·1 year agoNatalism (also called pronatalism or the pro-birth position) is a policy paradigm or personal value that promotes the reproduction of human life as an important objective of humanity and therefore advocates a high birthrate.

9·1 year agoI appreciate the humor, but at the same time, this is such a big concern. These people want to destroy the public education system and replace it with private, commercial schools. Watch the recording of her on stage when she made this mistake and they start with “We all know the current system is not effectively serving our students”. They dream of a world where they can sell every child their elementary and high school education and I, at least, am terrified by that idea.

Political Memes@lemmy.world•That's another country's problemEnglish
42·1 year agoAs an American, I think we go well beyond that. The average person here totally ignores every other country’s suffering and problems most of the time. And then we (on average) whine like small children as soon as we face any serious problem that’s been widespread around the world. This is more than just “I have my own things to do deal with”. It’s more like “It’s only a problem because it’s happening to me”. IMO, of course.

Political Memes@lemmy.world•That's another country's problemEnglish
36·1 year agoI think a small percentage of Americans notice dictatorships but most have historically ignored world events. Usually, other country’s problems are more than most Americans can think about.
My point here, was now we have those problems ourselves and a lot of people are freaking out 'cause this is the worst we’ve had to deal with in a long time.
Yeah. I was OK with them explaining how bankruptcies work, but then when they got to the actual events, they’re like “300 million in loansa they couldn’t pay back” but that might not be his fault. Like what?
But good news! All that wealth we’re creating will trickle down to us any day now.

5·1 year agoI would but this is totally just for me and it runs in nginx / php and I am going to guess you would just barf all over it.
But here’s a post where I asked for help on this subject, and where I got the idea to write my own app. There are a number of other ideas in there, and one really good HTML/JS app from github that does the same thing but is way better.

123·1 year agoOh! I just did this (used an AI chatbot to help me code a web app) to easily resize images.

It was a great experience and I only edited about 5% of the code it provided. I used the bot via DuckDuckGo. The app is simple, eh, but it works. Would vibe code again fer sher.

As someone else noted, they use a platform called Fireside. I wonder how hard it would be to self-distribute a podcast with thousands of listeners.

You know the songs on Spotify are not yours, right? You were just renting them?
I’m not saying you shouldn’t try to collect them now for use in Navidrome, but calling them “your songs” is just grating on me for some reason.
Also, I am a Spotify subscriber and just now tried to use yt-dlp with it but got this error:
