The last few elections have taught them that they don’t need to win over the progressives. They need to capture that centrist/center-right majority that are looking for a reason to ditch the Republican Party. I expect they’ll lean into that in the mid-terms and in 2028.

It works in France because there’s an implication that you guys will start burning everything to the ground if the government doesn’t capitulate. The implication comes from a clear and demonstrated history of actually doing so.

An ethnostate does not simply imply a that a majority of one ethnic group exists. Apartheid is not normal for most states.

An ethnocracy is a type of political structure in which the state apparatus is controlled by a dominant ethnic group (or groups) to further that group’s perceived interests, power, dominance, and resources.

So White Christian Nationalists wanting to have their own ethnostate and exterminate non-whites is bad, but Jewish Nationalists (Zionists) wanting to have their own ethnostate and exterminate non-Jews is ok?

It was clear from polling that siding with Israel was not going to be well received and, faced with the most important election not to lose, the Democrats decided that continuing to support the genocide was more important than stopping the slide into a fascist hellscape.

This was a deliberate decision of theirs. They weighed the choices and decided on what we have now. They are not on your side.

They did acknowledge the problem in 2008, when Obama ran the first time and the support from the working class (and other non-1%) was good. Then he quickly turned into a status quo democrat and they haven’t tried it again since.

The neoliberal controlled opposition is disarmed, because you don’t need personal arms when you have cops and your goal is preserving the power of the state and the capitalist boot.

The actual opposition (who have been disenfranchised by your fellow Democrats), were never so naive and are armed just fine. Just disorganized and excluded from the political machinery.

The present day justification for no-knock raids isn’t even people barricading themselves inside, but worry about people destroying evidence of low level drug crimes.

As if the increased risk to everybody’s life is worth it to make sure that the state’s case against someone isn’t made harder by somebody flushing a baggie of drugs.

The hard dependence of the military on civilian supply chains coupled with the piss-poor maintenance of infrastructure and poor security around it would make the military sitting ducks if they sided against the citizenry.

Then there’s the fact that we have more weapons in the hands of civilians, by orders of magnitude.

Also, the creepy propaganda that we’ve been fed since childhood here has been about instilling pride and loyalty to our country and constitution, not some wannabe king (MAGA cult aside).
