I’m sure god wouldn’t let that happen. Let’s just give it a try for a few hundred years.

I don’t know. Can’t we just stigmatize it to the point where their only recourse is to turn to faith and try to live a life of celibacy and denial? They can all become priests or something. That’ll help them with the internalized guilt while they’re at it!

Someday I want to write a story about a group of time travelers who travel to the past to try and stop Donald Trump from destroying America.
Every attempt fails. They catch him on tape making fun of handicapped people. They bring forth credible rape allegations. They help ensure he’s convicted of 34 felonies. They make sure he’s clearly implicated in his attempted insurrection. But every attempt fails.
And every time it’s like, “We’ve got the ‘grab them by the pussy’ tape! Surely this will be it.” Then they get back to their own time and nothing has changed.
There’s still plenty to like out there.
I dislike exploitative games as much as anyone else, but I just don’t play them. But that’s not really what I’m talking about, since that’s a legitimate complaint.
Movies being recycled year over year isn’t a thing.
Books being censored is an example of conservatives hating things.
Some people hate things as a hobby. I say that a lot, and I’m really serious.
Some people play video games, watch movies, or read books, and other people just hate stuff. That’s their whole thing. They seek it out. They doom scroll until they find something to hate, and then they latch onto it and spread that hate wherever they can. Most of them don’t even realize they’re doing it.
I’ve seen so many good things fall apart because of this internet hate machine. It’s sad.
There isn’t genocide in Ukraine
When Russia started relocating Ukrainian children into Russian families, that made it a coordinated effort to eliminate a people, which makes it a genocide.

Walz actually would have me a little excited. He seems like a great person and a solid candidate.
I’d be more excited for AOC. It’s possible she wouldn’t have a chance, but if the will of the American people keeps disappointing, then at some point we have to hang it up and say we deserve what we get.
If we can’t vote in a woman at this point, then maybe the experiment really is over.

He’s far from the first major political figure to express disdain for voters they don’t agree with. Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden, as well as 2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, all had their moments.
Fuck CNN and this both-sides equivocation bullshit.
The way Trump speaks about and has always spoken about his opponents is beyond the pale. There’s no comparison to anything that any other major politician in America has ever said. His brand of incivility is unprecedented, dangerous, and shouldn’t be normalized.

I don’t appreciate your ruse.

MAGA is a populist movement. Actually representing the will of the people is not required to meet the definition of “populist”.

tightening the purse strings
Is that really the right phrase to use here? If I took all my family vacation money and spent it on ninja swords from the mall, I don’t think my wife would say, “We can’t go on vacation because my husband is tightening the purse strings.”

Trump and Musk have both made claims that wouldn’t really count as “keeping the secret”. I don’t know what the truth is, but I don’t rule this out.
Ow. Fuck. I rolled my eyes so hard that I hurt my head.
Grown men having strong opinions on how Disney Princesses should look will never not be silly.
There’s no reason for it to matter to them.

It was actually Project Veritas, weirdly enough. The video seemed legit, but it was just a guy positing a theory. He wasn’t personally doing that redaction.
Plus it’s still Project Veritas, so you can’t trust it.

The reason we need freedom of speech from the government is because the government has a monopoly on violence. The root of it is whether or not violence is an acceptable response to speech.
When people say “freedom of speech isn’t freedom from consequences”, they’re not typically referring to murder as one of the consequences. You can see why that would be a slippery slope if they were.

Ok, but that’s still in the realm of freedom of speech. I’m not saying it’s ok that Trump got elected, and I’m my saying I’m ok with the situation we’re in now. I’m just saying that stupid people saying stupid things is not the part of this that should be changed through violence.

You’re right about Hitler, but Kirk wasn’t Hitler in this analogy.
The world is probably a better place without him, but as far as I understand it all he did was say a bunch of stupid stuff.
That’s not a wipeout then.
