@MicroWave Ponzi schemes by their nature are short-lived; According to Wikipedia, Charles Ponzi’s original scheme ran just over a year before collapsing. All pyramid schemes require a pool of investors that is constantly expanding, which is not the situation with Social Security.

@MicroWave I’m rather impressed with the UK on this. I had expected them to cave immediately.
@MicroWave Trump and his surrogates have said at different times that tariffs would (A) pay down the national debt and (B) increase domestic manufacturing.
But if (B) happens, then tariff revenue falls. And if (A) happens, it will mean manufacturing remained overseas.
These goals are perfectly contradictory.
