22·1 year agoWho watches the watchmen? Who determines which groups are marching for true expression and who are marching as a ‘show of force for how easy it would be for them to murder you?’ It’s too much power to give to any group or body, hence why free speech and freedom of assembly is protected. Is it constantly challenged? Sure, another privelage of being an American. You can lobby congress that this damn rock and roll is corrupting the youth and needs to be censored. It doesn’t mean you are right, no matter how ‘virtuous’ your cause.

Yup it is - we are talking about the demonstrations.

917·1 year agoMeh - “I hate illinois nazis” one of my favorite lines from the OG blues brothers, spoken while driving through a nazi march. You can hate them, as I do, but they have a right to demonstrate as much as you do - it does not equate with being unsafe. Yes, in 1926 the klan rallied. With the protections of our rights afforded by this country, they were allowed to do so. Do we all live under a Wolfenstein-esque KKK/Nazi regime now? No. All ideas can be expressed, you hope for the ‘right’ ones to stick.

3·1 year agoOpen up dev-tools. (right click anywhere on the page and hit ‘inspect’) - click the ‘sources’ tab. On that tab you will notice a large pause button. Refresh the page. You’ll see the full content load for a few seconds, during those seconds hit pause. Profit. If you have fiber or something and it flashes too fast, click the ‘network’ tab and then select a slow internet speed from the ‘throttling’ menu, then try again. Mostly just fluff and zero politics heads up.

502·1 year agoI want to try it out… but the smell test is off: Land on the github and it proudly proclaims the author is not doing this for money, only to help the community! Awesome right? Scroll down a little more to project history… and the first version he created and got bored with and sold. Ok… well let’s click on the website link to actually see what this looks like before cloning and installing… and the first thing I am hit with is join a premium subscription.
I’m not against making money, we all have to - but please don’t act like it’s “not about the money” and then make it about the money.

2·1 year agoDang sorry to hear that - I just followed the docker compose instructions and setup Caddy (which was also new to me) on my VPS and I was off the races, no issues yet.

10·1 year agoKitchenOwl is my latest addition and I am getting a lot of use out of it - s/o and I use it to share a grocery shopping list, slowly starting to add my recipes to it as well. I used to use a shared google keep list but KitchenOwl works a lot better.
Yup, I like jelly more - not that I have one running over the other lol
Making a note so I can find this again - also I have been loving JellyFin over Plex.
yeah, but for my personal bookmarks a hallucination is not a big deal, not exactly mission-critical lol
Summary stuff works really well too - I like to be able to bookmark a page and have tags/brief summary auto-gen’d
