This is exactly the reason I’m about to order a dell poweredge r630 with Intel xeon 2680 v4 from alibaba.
Also I’ve never ordered from alibaba before so we’ll see if I get scammed xd

Damn
Yeah used ram is probably where it’s at. Maybe you get them used later on from data centers…

I always thought using ddr5 average speeds with like 64gb in sticks on consumer boards is passable. Not great, but passable.

AI or servers probably. I have 40gb and that’s what I would need more ram for.
I’m still salty because I had the idea of going cpu & ram sticks for AI inference literally days before the big AI companies. And my stupid ass didn’t buy them in time before the prices skyrocketed. Fuck me I guess.

Fucking hell.
Yeah and that’s why people are using cloudflare so much.

You are funny

I was gonna say, refurbished hdds work perfectly for this. Now, I am kind of reaching that point where a NAS with multiple 20tb hdds is in order but generally you can get pretty far with hdds.
Fyi this community is full of those memes and if you criticize them you might get the mods on you ass.
That’s the reason other meme communities are doing better.

For only external vpns mullvad is pretty good. Also, tailscale is free and their node-based system is really good.
As an all-in-one solution proton is pretty much as good as it gets from what I’ve seen. One of my friends swears by it as well.
It really does seem that the only step up in security is deploying a wireguard or ovpn server yourself, which is a little more complex. Not arch Linux levels of complexity, but intermediate tinkerer levels of complexity.
I stopped doing it because maintaining that shit and debugging it everytime it breaks just sucks. Tailscale is easier. Still not happy with the amount of trust I put into tailscale though.

Hobbyist (not a security expert here) but using a VPN that’s trusted should be fine. Your security hinges on proton’s reputation but from what I know they’re pretty good. If I’m wrong please correct me in the comments and I will edit this comment.

Some hiccups for me but nothing egregious.

I settled on obsidian really quickly as well. And now sync thing + tailscale + obsidian means I am done experimenting and things just work.

To be fair it’s never clear cut. Government is made up of people in a democracy. Russia still labels itself a democracy, obviously it’s been somewhat hard take their word for it given the anomalous approval ratings and the long standing history of corruption as well as the oligarchic roots that are still running through the country.
You’re both right and wrong, the government is an extension of the citizens as to represent them. However, this government might not be representing them realistically anymore. So if you say the average person is responsible, that means they need to risk their and even their families safety and freedom. I think that’s not fair, I don’t know if I would be capable of this.
In conclusion (and because we know this from experience out of 1940s Germany) we need to burden them some responsibility for not revolting, but we can not punish them the same as government.
This excludes the specific perpetrators. If they have actual knowledge of the crimes, there is an argument to be made for moral implications from direct culpability and thus their actions underly a heightened level of criminalization and ethical scrutiny.
Yes funny joke very laugh much haha
No that wouldn’t make sense Kimmel way past 18y.

Did both. Setting up your own VPN is a bit annoying but when it works it works. Tailscale is really easy and solid. For folder syncing I can recommend using tailscale and syncthing. Install both on both devices, then connect the devices in sync thing (it will reciprocate) and then you can add a folder and share it with the other device. Latency for syncing can be 10s-3min, plus the actual file transfer speed.
Knowledge level: configuring software and setting up software. Maybe some basic network troubleshooting if it comes up.
It’s never gonna be as easy as paying for a service that does it for you but this setup is also not that hard.
If you have questions feel free to ask me or other nerds on here, I’m sure they can help you ^^~
Following that logic, we have an obligation to march into Russia, China, the USA and most other countries. Spoiler alert: Nazis come in all shapes and sizes in every country that’s big enough.
Dumb question: my bitwarden browser plugin doesn’t work properly of my Vaultwarden doesn’t run https. Right now I’m exposing it under subdomain with self-cert in nginx proxy manager. Could I switch over to using my Headscale with “tailscale serve”? Does this work and can I use it https in that way?
