281·2 years agoSo he postulated why not just have only closed captioning as once before instead of half the screen be ASL.
I guess I would be curious to know why, actually. Is there a better reason?
Edit: I read the quote, but curious if by emotional nuance they mean in the interpreter’s facial expressions? Wouldn’t they also gain this from the primary person speaking too?
Ok, but that has nothing to do with the comment OP’s comment. I agree with what you said up until the last sentence. Racism? Lmfao. So the Biden admin are all racists too? It has nothing to do with race. No nation-state is going to let another nation-state spy on their own citizens. Race has nothing to do with it.
That’s easy. But the comment OP is probably a tanky anyway and will deny or rationalize all evidence.

politics @lemmy.world•The Army of God Comes Out of the Shadows: Tens of millions of American Christians are embracing a charismatic movement known as the New Apostolic Reformation, which seeks to destroy the secular state.
7·2 years agoA lot of “surveys” are hardly vetted and they are used in an attempt to extrapolate across a larger group, but are seldom right. Just look at all the early polling that showed Kamala would be leading the Presidency, but we got orange man instead. The article also doesn’t link to said survey, so we can’t even compare its sample size or any other statistical analysis. Maybe they only surveyed 30 people. We just have to use an incredibly large figure injected by the author that supports the article’s claims. For all we know, the results of the survey might even have not been interpreted the way the author has interpreted them. I tried searching for this survey, but came up short in Kagi. Would love to read the survey and find out how it was conducted and whether or not it really does represent the American Christian community at large.

121·2 years agoReads like a nothing burger. So confirms 20 people in a barn. Loosely tries to connect Tucker Carlson, Elon Musk, and Trump to this movement. This just sounds like fear porn for a fringe minority of radical evangelicals, no different from other radical sects in other religious groups.
Mother Jones has about as much journalistic integrity as Salon… aka there is none
So when you have a problem (accident, robbery, etc) who do you ask for help?
They were never Republicans. The Republican Party split post-Trump loss and a bunch of them infested the Libertarian party.
I am also a libertarian socialist and anarchist, but many people confuse it for American libertarianism, which at one time was good, but is now co-opted by QAnon incels and ostracized conservatives. People here will confuse the two and will downvote you hard out of pure ignorance, simply because the word “libertarian” that they’ve seen other misinformed people wrongly lump into the same boat as “bad” or “nazi” and think you’re in the same category.
Interesting, that’s pretty cool, never knew that about Cuba. Is that to ensure a workable labor force? Whereas, the US has a significantly larger (30x) population. Therefore, the labor force maybe isn’t as cared about or needed to such a degree?
My comment isn’t even troll. Just wondering in a communist country, do they even help their most health system burdensome people? I don’t know. Canada now is trying to pressure assisted suicide on them. I think the UK is now trying that too. I know that Australia’s healthcare system is pretty good and they’ll even help those who aren’t even citizens. I’d say Australia is pretty capitalist, but have a really good system by the looks of it. Or does this meme just mean US capitalism? I’d be curious to know what it’s like for the extremely ill and poor people in Venezuela, China, Russia, etc. Do they actually get help?
What happens in communism?
