  • I think I should have been more clear, this is exactly what I’m asking about. I’m somewhat surprised by the reaction this post got, this seems like a very normal thing to want to host.

Doesn’t help that some people here are replying as if I was asking to locally host the “trick” that is feeding a chatbot text and asking it whether it’s machine-generated. Ideally the software I think I’m looking for would be something that has a bank of LLM models and can kind of do some sort of statistical magic to see how likely a block of tokens is to be generated by them. Would probably need to have quantized models just to make it run at a reasonable speed. So it would, for example, feed the first x tokens in, take stock of how the probability table looks for the next token, compare it to the actual next token in the block, and so on.

Maybe this is already a thing and I just don’t know the jargon for it. I’m pretty sure I’m more informed about how these transformer algorithms work than the average user of them, but only just.

  • The one on the right seems to be slightly edited into further uncanny valley territory.

Here’s a comment I remember from months ago saying something like “it’s real omg” while replying to it with an unedited (or less edited idk) photo that is clearly different. It’s subtle at a glance.

She still looks like an uncanny caricature in the real one. But yes, people will go into surgery for one niggling insecurity, even people you wouldn’t consider bad looking, and a small number do get hooked on that feeling of “fixing” their appearance, first to diminishing returns, and then to outright becoming uncomfortable to look at.

Thankfully, this is a piece of irredeemable human excrement we’re discussing, and every dollar she spends reinforcing an unscrupulous surgeon’s yacht is one she’s not using to spread her message. Even if I never end up moving to the US, this environment of evil rhetoric has been poisoning a lot of potential places that people like me would want to immigrate to.

    EDIT:

CW: fucking look at her dawg

Expression on the right looks kind and gentle compared to Jigsaw on the left there. The edit is legitimately pretty subtle if you’re not keeping an eye out for it, a light handed liquify pass that really changes what we’re looking at. I’ve cropped out the kid because it’s not their fault their parents brought them there.

Weirdly enough it’s easier to see the effect if you’re not scrutinizing details and you look at both photos from a distance. The only obvious change to me is the Jigsaw style billiard ball cheekbones.

That’s enough devil’s advocate from me. I hope she chokes on whatever disgusting creature she starts “gaining rapport” with next.

  • It’s because the latest Reddit refugee wave have been exposed to uncensored news for more than five days, breaking a personal best.

When one side unironically complains that the other has kidnapped a soldier from his tank… We’ve been conditioned to ignore atrocities I think, as humans, because those of us who survive still have to live. And further out, people have no sympathy for people they’ve never been shown are people too. But the tank soldier kidnapping thing is just making fun of their own sympathizers to their face. I’m sure there’s a kind of person who picks up on these things and goes from being a “reasonable” “centrist” to looking at both sides and understanding what they’re really looking at. It’s really not complicated

Proud of you, new joiners, I see you.

  • You see, when football is mentioned online, the collective intelligence of any comment section is cut by at least 90%. This stacks with another 90% if it’s women’s football or any token LGBT acknowledgement in football. The joke is Muslim Bad.

Which is a shame. I used to make fun of le sportsball amirite until it clicked that there was immense entertainment value in these matches, which could be super tense and exciting even when an individual match doesn’t have super high stakes. There’s storylines with each of the players and managers, there’s a lot of diverging personalities among them and they all handle the same game in their own way. And unlike scripted shows, when something unexpected happens it is so much more interesting. Like the story is real in a way that scripted entertainment isn’t.
