What is the point of Plex? I just went straight for Jellyfin and it does everything I need and then some. Is it just that people went with Plex initially and then stuck with it as it got enshittified?

Personally I don’t enjoy setting things up. I do enjoy not being tied down to evil corporations.

Minimum wages aren’t necessarily a thing you must have, provided unions are strong in the labour market. We don’t have a legally mandated minimum wage here in Sweden, but it only works because CLAs are so common and the unions are constantly working on it. If people start slacking and stop actively working within unions, or the capitalist asswipes keep trying to undermine the Swedish labour market model, that shit’s going to fall apart quickly.

Musk and his garbage car company for example is one of the most recent occurrences of a company trying its best to undermine the Swedish model. There’s a strike that’s been going on since 2023 because of it. The strategy is essentially just enshittification; offer good terms and wages until the unions are weakened, then throw it all out, run over your workers and there’ll be no recourse since the unions are gone.

I think the only argument against legally mandated minimum wages that I’ve heard that I personally think hold water is that politicians are notoriously slow at changing things so you might end up with a minimum wage that remains the same for 20-30 years. That said, I feel like that’s easily solved if you have an institution that is assigned to keep track of the general expenses a person has on a year to year basis, and base a minimum wage on that. That’s not to say I think minimum wage should be subsistence minimum, it should meet and exceed that, because the stress that comes with living on subsistence minimum isn’t sustainable.

Having previously worked at a company without a CLA I can safely say I’ll never do that again. Sure it was a lovely place to work at, but having the same salary several years in a row really sucked. At my current company we get the union negotiated yearly increases, plus potential bonuses if you meet (or exceed) your development goals.

I like the bundling of deps. Sure it’s inefficient, but it runs, and storage comes cheap nowadays anyway.

Was listening to my go-to podcast during morning walkies with my dog. They brought up an example where some couple was using ShatGPT as a couple’s therapist, and what a great idea that was. Talking about how one of the podcasters has more of a friend like relationship to “their” GPT.

I usually find this podcast quite entertaining, but this just got me depressed.

ChatGPT is by the same company that stole Scarlett Johansson’s voice. The same vein of companies that thinks it’s perfectly okay to pirate 81 terabytes of books, despite definitely being able to afford paying the authors. I don’t see a reality where it’s ethical or indicative of good judgement to trust a product from any of these companies with information.

Has there ever been a peaceful revolution? I can’t think of any. Rights are taken from the oppressors, not given by them.

I think he’s aiming more to become an emperor. That said, I like the positive outlook! If he fucking ruins everything, there’s always room for the Americans to build something better in the mess he leaves.

I wouldn’t be surprised. He promised an end of elections and voting. This is what his voters wanted.

In my divorced-from-reality headcanon that’s exactly what’s going on. Trump has just toddled from one disaster to another, completely impervious to any fallout. There’s no way in hell he doesn’t have plot armour. Which begs the question; who the hell is writing this slop, and how do we get out?

Like, Clinton sexually assaulted a secretary and that stained him and his wife.

Trump has

• Expressed desire to shag his daughter
• Openly admitted to sexually assaulting women
• Mocked a disabled reporter
• Incited an attack on the U.S. Capitol
• Somehow survived getting shot at twice
• Has a chronic case of verbal diarrhoea to the point of incoherence
• Managed to get elected as a convicted felon, even though many felons can’t even vote

This might not come to pass.
