Farming faux outrage

Ok, here we are back to the sincerity argument. What makes you think he isn’t sincere? What is the difference between faux outrage and real outrage. I assume we agree that genocide is something to be outraged about.

I don’t have time to watch the video. I caught one argument where Hassan said:

“The Palestinians should be able to use Force to protect their property from Israeli settlers.”

I feel like this is pretty reasonable. I don’t know what’s outrageous about this.

I’m beginning to feel like our problem is that I’m progressive or lefty and you’re conservative. In which case all of your concerns about Vaush and Hassan make a lot of sense.

If you have a specific argument that Vash or Hassan that is counter to progressivism, Marxism, or leftism. I’d be happy to hear it out.

But otherwise, I know there’s hours and hours of YouTubers criticizing both Vaush and Hassan either disingenuously or from an opposing political perspective like fascism. And I don’t have the time to go through all of that and debunk every single one.

Killing is not the best outcome, but the left versus right thing should definitely happen. The right kills way more than the left could even think about killing. The right needs to stop being a thing.

Okay, you’ve got a YouTube video that’s full of clips. I don’t know if the YouTuber is biased or not. And I don’t know the full context behind the clips. And I’m not really that familiar with Hassan. It’s really hard to have perfectly correct positions 100% of the time while events are happening. Hassan may have gone back and corrected his position on some of these things. So I can’t really speak too well to any of this.

We were discussing sincerity right? Is there anything in here that makes you believe that Hassan is not sincere?

It’s also really weak to point at fascism and say “look they treat some people badly for no reason. On an unrelated note, we are also going to treat some people badly for no reason.”

I think your sources are either lying to you or not digging deeper than out of context clips.

I don’t know Hassan as well, but I would guess they’re on the same page. Vaush has never seriously insulted trans people or seriously made fun of SA victims. Vaush is pro trans. And has seriously looked at public SA accusations on social media. Vaush also gives moral guidance against SA.

As for the sincerity. He has explained his ideology from first principles. And they seem consistent to me. And his actions are in line with his ideology.

Now there’s no way to be sure of course. And you have a right to your own opinion.

So if they had less money, but produce the exact same content they do today, you would cease to call them a grift?

I believe some millionaires want socialist revolution. Remember the bourgeoisie are not happy, even if they are better off than everyone else. They’re alienated from their fellow man. The system keeps them afraid, makes them think their only option is to make more money. This all causes further isolation and fear.

If you’re so concerned about it. You should probably get off Lemmy. The people who run Lemmy servers are running a business. They accept donations just like Vaush and Hassan. You’re tainting yourself with capitalism by even posting here.

If Elon musk started spreading leftist propaganda to the masses like he was spreading fascist propaganda. And if he would stop spreading the fascist propaganda. I wouldn’t have a problem with him.

This purity testing is not helping anyone but the fascists.

Feel good about doing nothing? Have you actually watched a Vash or Hasan stream. Yeah the bad outcome is almost totally guaranteed at this point in time. But we’re still being basically yelled at to go phone, bank or organize.

As for monetization. Welcome to capitalism. You either monetize or you go out of business. Better to monetize and spread propaganda than be too holy to be effective.

I agree. Unfortunately, I think it’s the best we have right now. The subtleties of who is and isn’t the bourgeoisie takes a level of brain power that the average person just does not have today.

On the plus side, most if not all billionaires are the bourgeoisie. And “billionaires are bad” is much better than “billionaires are good” which was the thinking in the 2000s.

The bourgeoisie and the proletariats. Not much has changed.

I think the problem you’re going to run into is most of the people who were against the metoo movement are the same people who we need to convince.

Do leftists really have a problem understanding both sides can be bad? I figure you have to be pretty well versed in that in order to be a leftist.
