Quite a lot of people, especially here on the Fediverse. You’d be wise to care too - AI is no friend to the working class.

41·1 year agoMillions of voters wanted it. They don’t realize that the circle of acceptable in-groups only gets smaller. They’re cheering at the cruelty today, but it won’t take long to catch them too.
The solutions look a lot different for the real loneliness epidemic than a “male loneliness epidemic”. You fix the first by creating more walkable cities, more third places you can be without needing to spend money, and giving people the time and money they need to go out, do things, and socialize.
The proposed solutions for the “male loneliness epidemic” seem to be a lot more like shitty men saying “women need to lower their standards and be okay with being my therapist/mom/girlfriend, while I change nothing about myself”

7·2 years agoIf you don’t mind my asking, where did you go and how was the process? I haven’t left yet, but I think it’s well past time I had a plan. I have a passport and all my documents have the same (although not my preferred) gender markers. So my current thought would be to look for a remote work job and then try for a digital nomad visa somewhere in the EU.

2·2 years agoI’ll echo the other reply - red states will not have them, blue and some purple states will. I suspect we will continue to have the facade of democracy for a while, and may see the Democrats take the House and maybe the Senate in 2026.
The real question is, if there are elections in 2028, and the Republicans lose, will there be a transfer of power? I don’t have a good feeling about the answer, but only time will tell. Four years is a long time for an obese old man with a very stressful job to live, and I don’t think there is anyone who can easily take over Trump’s cult of personality and take the reins of the fascist movement.
Continued to support Democrats after they fucked him in the 2016 primary, I’m guessing?
I don’t know, I still like him

1·2 years agoI don’t use any *arr, though I’ve been meaning to look more into it. I do use Jellyfin though, so I’ll probably start there.
I’ll take a look at Nginx proxy manager for domain configuration, like another user in this thread suggested

1·2 years agoThank you! That’s helpful. How would you go about setting up a password and 2FA for your own site? I would like to make my services “publicly” available (to myself and friends/family)

2·2 years agoThank you!
Are there any simple services you’d recommend starting with to get a feel for things? I’ll probably start with AdGuard, unless there’s a better option
And I don’t plan to use both at the same time, so conflicting ports shouldn’t be an issue.
Is the process for configuring your own domain with Docket enough of a pain that I should consider sticking with YunoHost?
In this context, the meme is talking about liberals not in the American conservative vs liberal sense, but in the liberalism sense. Whereas leftists, who most Americans would think of as “extremely liberal”, are not actually liberals at all, since we oppose free market capitalism and private property.
I am here to chew bubble gum and post memes in the memes community, and I’m all out of bubble gum
Despite the meme, I totally agree! Most liberals I encounter are well-intentioned, but have been indoctrinated into thinking that capitalism is the best system we have available. Being patient and answering questions that explain what you actually believe, not what they’ve been told you believe, goes a long way. That said, being patient like that definitely a skill that is not always easy to get right, and certainly takes practice.

I mean, I suppose so. I can imagine a theoretical AI that isn’t trained on stolen work, isn’t insanely energy intensive, isn’t controlled by the ownership class, and doesn’t hallucinate wildly. But that’s so far away from what AI is in our current context, drawing that distinction feels like losing the forest for the trees, at this point in time.
