  • Her power base are her constituents in her district. And in order to gain power in Congress she has to play the game in Congress. I don’t think you understand how politics works. Which explains a lot about the postings in most of these forums.

The reason Trump keeps “winning” is because the wealthy have carefully set the table for someone like him over the last 40 years. He only got to sit in his position because of a careful effort to weaponize stupidity and ignorance across the nation. Fighting that takes more than idealism.

  • I think people read to remember the fact that the leader of the party can really fuck over members of their own party in congress. And I think we’ve seen that Hakeem Jeffries is more than capable of being in total ass to members of his own party.

If you’re shocked that she is being political then you’re a fool because no matter what one’s ideals are in Congress they still need to play the game otherwise they will be pushed off to the side and ignored. Which is a hard lesson she learned in her first few years when Nancy Pelosi stuck her in a hole and did her best to make AOC irrelevant in Congress.

  • From his Wikipedia page:

In 2018, Platner returned to Kabul, Afghanistan, for about six months as a State Department security contractor with Constellis, the private military company formerly known as Blackwater, where he provided diplomatic security to the US ambassador to Afghanistan.

He worked as security to the US ambassador for 6 months. And quit because he disliked the military industrial complex that he was witnessing from the inside.

As a former military person he could have lived the good life cashing giant checks from Blackwater until he reached retirement. Instead he quit to take on the not so cushy life of being an oyster farmer. And now he is diving head first into the wood chipper that is a political campaign in the United States against a well established GOP incumbent.

To be dismissive of such a person is reductive and unnecessarily demeaning. And leads me to wonder if you are being disingenuous in hopes of helping one of the, quite frankly utterly despicable, other candidates.
