It’s usually irrelevant to focus on the “competition”.

In business, it makes no sense to focus on the 1% of the population who buys your competitors products instead of yours, because you’re not addressing the 98% who is not buying either.

The same is true about US politics: The majority are not left or right; They are not voting at all. Claiming that the shooter is either side will be wrong more often than it is true, because there’s only 25% chance of guessing it.

Who even knows if it’s politically motivated? 4 children were shot at a school simultaneously as the Krik shooting. Nobody asked about the political reasons for that.

So what’s the alternative? Non-hierarchial societies don’t really exist, and if they do, in smaller tribes, they get infiltrated or destroyed by larger societies.

It could be argued which is worse, but it’s the same people doing it anyway.
