The only one who benefitted from Ukraine trying to join Nato was Aipac. Surely not the ukrainians who live in an endless stalemate of war.
Well, I see nothing gay in joining a military alliance. More like propaganda where the true benefactor is Aipac.

1·1 year agoThe west did nothing to stop the nazi Poland invasion. Did nothing to stop the Chekoslovakia invasion before, or the Denmark and Norway invasions. Did block anti-fascist assistance to spanish civil war. Did nothing when a still demilitarized pre-nazi Germany fashioned fascist militias as state security officers.
The west literally sat by watching the WWII unfold while eating popcorns until they were kicked out of Dunkirk.

11·1 year agoSome historical background back when Poland was the border nation instead of Ukraine. 1939 anglo-french-soviet negotiations fail to the joy of Hitler. In may Poland was a huge security concern for all of Europe. Hitler wanted to secure it’s eastern flank and Stalin vice-versa, while UK and France struggled to find a way to deliver the promised protection to their ally Poland.
It is easy to blame the URSS for allying Germany, but the fact is Poland would’ve fallen anyways. Famines, political persecution and the Manchuria war had the Soviet Union in a very unstable situation at best. UK and France had little offer to secure Stalin’s left flank. We all now know he needed help there, and a lot of it. Allying the enemy is not a rare course of action at all, only this time backfired spectacularly. Still to this day there is no agreement on why Hitler betrayed it’s ally in that precise time. He did came close to winning the war (and subsequently the world war), but instead it accelerated his demise.1939 was obviously a very uncertain time politically and there is no point in blaming one single country for causing a world war. My point is to compare it to 2025 and realize today is actually as dangerous as it was back then, if not more since now the nuke spice is available in the world wars kitchen.

politics @lemmy.world•Harris on Trump: ‘We’re dealing with a communist dictator’English
481·1 year agoKamala going back to american basics: all communist = bad --> all bad = communist.
Post is more related to political violence. The double standards of extreme condemnation when violence used against politicians while they do promote violence towards foreign populations (i.e. palestinians, jews or venezuelans) and local minorities (i.e. racial or radical groups).
There is not need to deny other genocides. It’s just natural to talk first about the one we fund.

Political Memes@lemmy.world•Remember when this one was a little edgy instead of quaint?English
1·1 year agoThat was pretty exact and a delight to read. There are millions of ppl with common sense who know how to analize basic history like you. The problem in this freak modern media world is no one is allowed to speech ‘that long’ before being interrupted with some Cpt. Obvious strikes again ‘but the right to defend…’, ‘do you support terrorists’ or ‘are you antisemite’. Argumentative dialoge is long dead.
Nah, most see her as a rebel uneducated teen and the others don’t even know her. Her death won’t make any difference, because EU already condemned the flotilla, virtually signing her murder.
Have you thought about the size of that flame looks more like of a cuban cigar? 🙄
I hope you don’t see me as a war fuelling supporter 🥲
I may understand better now the confusion and polemics here. This meme might not be the best choice for this topic. While the upper face means refusing to see the good way, then the bottom face implies deliberate wrongdoing, which of course is an obvious journalism work.
My point in the meme was the hypocrisy of criticizing others while denying our own involvement.
Well tbh, I also hate agreing to disagree. Discussion is the civilized solution to conflicts, although it provenly takes a long time to make sides understand each other.
Nobody knows about everything. As long as the discussion is backed with sources and non-repetitive arguments both sides benefit from it, even when not reaching a consensus.
Often I realize heated arguments even when both sides have really similar believes. Coming back to the meme’s topic, I’m sure you don’t see our western mainstream media as fully honest and non-biased journalism. Not that chinese or russian media is any better (far from it), but I believe autocriticism is an essential requirement for a healthy democratic society our foreign ministers brag about.
Is it necessary to rage like an agressive drunk psyco? I do appreciate the links to the sources, but behave like a civilized being.
Please, be more accurate with your statements. China is committing genocide at home (which is terrible) and supplying components, which applications include i.e. war drones for Ukraine war, in other words fuelling the war.
On the other hand the west is supplying plain ready to use weapons, ammunition and war vehicle parts. Not only that, but also the crucial military intel necessary to hit the targets.
Although one can argue the outcome will be the same, results show a much higher civilian casualty percentage of 83% in the Gaza war.
There is a substantial difference in the battlefield between fuelling, arming and committing.
It’s not only ‘an issue’, as you say. Is giving the weapons, the technology and intel to comit genocide. History will remember China for committing genocide, and the West for arming a much bloodier one.
Did you read your own words? So, the west isn’t… but Russia and China is…? Such a colonial lecturing mindset if I may say.
So how are ordinary chinese more complicit than you? You both pay taxes which fund the wrongdoing. Furthermore, we don’t live in a control freak state with no civil rights like them. At least we can denounce what our governments do.
I hope we agree in that point. It doesn’t make arming genocide any better if it’s committed by our allies. Thanks to that today is more dangerous than even the Cold War.
You must be such a lovely person to hang around with, sir.
Btw, even if the word comes from greek, doesn’t mean it’s written as in english in every other language.
P.S: don’t forget to hit the dislike also in this reply. It means so much to me.
? I’m from Europe. West Europe more specifically. I mean us as the west block. It’s several western countries arming genocide.
Pardon my french, I’m not native. Good to always learn some more english though.
Apparently you do understand hypocrisy and it’s meaning? No comments?
Happened the same to Georgia. You may be right, but it’s just a fact Russia is gonna oppose having Nato at it’s borders the best it can. Same way US didn’t enjoy Cuba missile crisis.
