The mistake isn’t ignoring the problem - it’s subsidizing it.

They’re free to continue to be ignorant, short-sighted fuckups because we’re there to bail their pathetic asses out.

If we’re going to bail them out, then that means we’re taking responsibility, and if we’re taking responsibility then they’re going to sit the fuck down and shut the fick up and do as they’re told, because obviously they can’t take care of themselves.

And if, on the other hand, they’re going to do as they please, then it’s not our responsibility - it’s theirs. And if they can’t bail themselves out of the trouble they’ve caused for themselves, that’s their own fucking problem.

It has to be one or the other. Authority without responsibility just creates moral hazard. Either they have the aurhority, in which case they also have the responsibility, or we have the responsibility, in which case we also have the authority.

They’re hyperfocused on states rights. Fine. Here’s the thing though - with rights come responsibilities. One can’t claim the right to make one’s own decisions, then dodge the responsibility for those decisions.

They.make their choices, they have to deal with the consequences themselves.

So they can grow the fuck up and join the modern world, or they can just wallow in their ignorance and incompetence. It’s their problem - not ours.

I’m sure that’ll be a comfort to the millions of Americans who are going to suffer and die because they can no longer afford healthcare, adequate food or even a roof over their heads.

This is just standard Democrat strategy.

Their job - the service their rich donors pay them for - is to provide the illusion of opposition to the steady expansion of the wealth and privilege of those same rich donors.

So they posture in order to appear to be opposition, but then they inevitably cave, one way or another, whatever it takes.

There was never any question that the Dems were going to cave - that’s what they always do. The only questions were specifically how and when they were going to do it

History is only written by the winners when the winners benefit their civilization.

When, as has consistently happened in the latter days of past civilizations and as will be the case if Trump and the oligarchs and their fascist tools win, the winners solely benefit themselves and thus ultimately destroy their civilization, history is written by third parties.

It’s sort of amusing that the profound psychological issues that make him the most corrupt POTUS in history, the most self-absorbed POTUS in history, the most dishonest POTUS in history and the most deranged POTUS in history also make him the most tone-deaf POTUS in history.

Except that you’d have to survive the DNC/establishment Democrats’ attempts to sabotage your entire campaign.

I really can’t wrap my head around what it must be like to be a Republican.

At this point, their “logic” would have to be something like “All indications are that we’re so wildly unpopular that we’re going to get our asses kicked in the midterms, so we’re going to own the libs by cheating.”

That’s not just irrational - it’s pathetic.

Biden was just doing his part for the DNC and the Dem leadership and their big money donors.

One of their many dirty little secrets is that they want free rein for autocracy and corruption just as much as the Republicans do, but since there isn’t a good way to frame it in a leftist narrative, they have to wait for the Republicans to pursue it, so that then they can just not quite manage to stop them. Which they do, every time.

That’s been on full display under Trump, since not managing to stop him is pretty much a full time job. But they have lots of experience with it now and are so good at it that if necessary they can even, like they did in the last budget battle, have a few members cross the aisle and vote with the Republicsns to ensure passage, and still maintain the illusion that they really wanted to stop them, but just couldn’t quite manage it.

And watch for that in this coming shutdown showdown. They will fold, guaranteed. They always do, because they never really intend to do anything else.

I really appreciate that this article repeatedly drives home the simple fact that this court is corrupt.

This isn’t simply an ideological dispute. Roberts, Alito and Thomas, most notably, are corrupt traitors who are actively and repeatedly violating their oaths of office and every ethical standard they’re sworn to uphold. They’ve gone so far in ruling contrary to law, precedent and even the Constitution that at this point they don’t even bother trying to explain, much less justify, their rulings. They just issue them.

Personally, I think they are the most egregiously destructive criminals in this administration - they, even more than Trump and his handlers and lackeys and sycophants, are responsible for the fact that the United States is accelerating into autocracy, because their job is to ensure that the federal government stays within the bounds of existing law and of the Constitution, and they have willfully refused to do that job.

Every single brazenly illegal and destructive thing the Trump regime is doing it’s doing because the supreme court has refused to honor its commitment to truth and the rule of law, and that in turn because the conservative justices are entirely corrupt and compromised.

And exactly as noted, something must be done. If those corrupt traitors are allowed to continue operating as they have, then anything anyone who wants to save this country from autocracy might do will be for naught, because those corrupt traitors will just arbitrarily rule against them and in favor of the autocrats, entirely regardless of law, precedent or the Constitution. That cannot last - it must be stopped.

Stop calling it a “court.”

It’s not a court - it’s a corrupt and compromised rubber-stamping service that just puts a quasi-legal gloss on whatever the hell the tyrant-in-chief wants to do.
