I didn’t even know people do this wtf… The only explanation I could fathom would be some kind of over use of the OED’s fourth definition:
- (1797) – (A body of) non-fictional books and writings published on a particular subject.
The key is “on a particular subject.” When referring to literature in general, it refers to literally any written work (including letters, advertising, etc.). I very much sympathize with your frustration…
Literally the person you are responding to
PS: also me and a whole lot of other people; just pointing out of pointless your question/statement was.
+1, it is much worse than even proof-of-work crypto though. I think AI is the bigger enemy, since at least in crypto, there are ways of developing and using it that aren’t as bad (or even at all) for the climate.
If you are from a western country there is a certain risk in going to North Korea.
Interesting question! The issue of white genocide in South Africa is particularly relevant here…
Yep, this is exactly what I read… still a cool project though. Anything that at least tries to make neurodivergent people more accepted gets my approval.
I don’t know about the comic font, but OpenDyslexic is a great typeface for dyslexics (as the name would suggest). It mostly has to do with the weight of the letters being towards the bottom as I understand it. I personally (dyslexic here) have gotten so used to Computer Modern Serif and JetBrainsMono that they’re easier for me to read, but that comes from hours of monkeytype with JetBrainsMono and hours of reading books and PDFs with Computer Modern. I think OpenDyslexic, while cool, is probably only truly helpful for people not already used to a different typeface.
Yeah, the angle is kinda misleading… I would almost hazard that there were more people in the Obama shot.
Hmm — maybe that’s why the barista always ignores my order and little children scream when I walk by…
Idk, I turned down my heating to 15° © last winter, and was fine. And I live farther north than France, in a first-floor apartment, with pretty shitty insulation (it’s a pre-WWII building). I have great rent though.
Nice setup! Couple questions:
- How do you like river vs Sway (if you’ve used it)? Which layout generator do you use for River?
- You use foot and neovim; I’ve tried using neovim inside of foot, but because of some odd term incompatibility, shift becomes unregistered in neovim by foot (this is a known issue). Did you face this, and if so, how did you solve it?
Thanks! Again, this looks super cool!
I remember this from “The C Programming Language // ANSI Edition” — a.k.a. K&R! A great guide to C btw; I still consider it the single most informative and useful thing that happened to me in the realm of computer science.
You could at least try to be civil. I am still curious as to what your original reply meant though. Are you calling me centrist? I am communist, how in the world could I simultaneously be centrist? Furthermore, I wasn’t — as far as I’m aware — stating any kind of political opinion with my original reply.
Please, I beg you, elaborate. I would appreciate that a lot more than jumping to conclusions.
Would you care to elaborate?
Edit: Well, to be fair, I could have paragraphed a little more effectively.
How might one/I find an instance with very few de-federations? What are examples of such instances. Thanks, and, just as you say, peace.
Yes! It’s a sad, sad world. It mostly has to do with people’s political opinions on moderators, i.e. “.ml are tankies” and “.world are right-wing normie fascists” or something like that. I have never — literally never — witnessed a .ml mod doing something I thought was bad. I have also seen only one tankie since I joined .ml. I have witnessed some kind of conflict between .world and .ml everytime single time I open Lemmy though. Kind of depressing. I wish we could make less of a deal of an issue that, all things considered, seems pretty small. Ah well, that aside, Lemmy is still great, it will just take time to mature — like all social platforms in their beginnings!
Ist das sarkastisch gemeint? Ich kann mir wirklich nicht vorstellen, dass die FDP irgendetwas legitim Progressives gutheißen würde.

I’ve had a pretty intense widows peak since teenagerdom and have also gotten regular compliments on my hair since teenagerdom. Coincidence? I think not!
