If there iwas anything that pissed me off more than the Democrats abandoning support for workers it was union leadership doing so.

Well, I’m waiting. You made quite the charge there. How did I betray my values? How did help bring Trump to power?

You don’t get to call yourself “left” when you help bring Trump to power.
And how did I do that exactly?

More like a last minute concession. There is no point to an endorsement when it’s clear the die has been cast.

Nope. First of all, the Trumper tactic is always to overturn the game-board. They don’t give a shit about goalposts. Second, the goalpost was “line up and support Mamdani” which you actually moved to “endorsed Mamdani” which is not the same. Their endorsements were nothing more than concessions. It was last-minute realignment to position themselves to benefit from the win, or at least not suffer as much embarrassment. It was never support.

In the case of the Democratic establishment, this is exactly the meaning they intend to project. They just want to be able to deny it at the same time while getting well meaning normies to unthinkingly repeat the disparaging rhetoric against progressives.
Here’s a great primer to some of their other vocabulary of choice.

Only Obama has come close to a real endorsement, and none came in when they might have mattered, Has Jefferies even worked up the courage to endorse him by name yet, or is it still just “the Democratic candidate” LOL?

Not only did they give us Trump 2, they are trying to give us Trump 3 right now. Mamdani is going to win NY and Democrats are doing everything they can to signal that if Trump invades as he is threatening that they won’t have his back.
Notice too how Trump is reacting so much differently to Mamdani than other Democrats. Mamdani scares him. Establishment Democrats don’t. Progressives scare him. Left populists scare him. Out of touch corporate Democrats are losers.

The Democratic establishment has still failed to line up and support Mamdani in NY, so there isn’t going to be much patience on the left for hearing about what Democratic “voters” don’t get. The voters aren’t the source of the problem.

Anyone who uses the phrase “purity test” has completely failed to grasp the situation. It has nothing to do with purity tests, and the phrase is itself a cultural smear used by establishment Democrats against progressives.
There is no minor nitpicking going on of one issue here or there. There is a gaping divide in the party between the corporate establishment and the vast majority of the Democratic base.

Majority report and status coup have been doing great coverage of this stuff.

Well no, I can’t say any Democrat can compete with W on pure IQ deficit, but I’ll put Bill Clinton toe to toe with almost any Republican on spending cuts. “The era of big government is over” was Clinton, not a Republican.

It seems like every week or so I hear of new ways people are coming up with to be a massive pain in the ass for ICE, and that is great. Peaceful resistance definitely doesn’t have to be nice, and can be pretty effective. Here in Chicagoland ICE is pretty much locked out of private businesses, and everywhere they go they are being followed by mobs with whistles or cars honking horns. They have been pulling over “suspicious” vehicles (pure racial profiling) only to have other drivers jump out and tell the victims to shut the fuck up and not say a thing to further suspicion. Resistance is peaceful, but it’s real.

It becomes clearer when you realize that, in terms of political power, the left is a tiny insergency within the Democratic party. The party establishment itself is pretty solidly to the right.

Because ICE agents have the most guns behind them and they aren’t really using them yet? We have a lot of advantages in nonviolent resistance, including local police being pretty neutral to even protecting protesters at times. The second it turns violent the advantage is theirs, and the cops will be all in on their side.
Anybody who goes Rambo on ICE fucks not just themselves. The blowback will come down just as hard on the communities they were supposedly trying to protect. For now the courts are restraining ICE and keeping most of Trump’s attempts at military escalation off the streets.

I hope that includes the Republican Democrats because there sure seem to be a lot of them.

Good recent video on the topic from Unfuck The Republic.

Meh, I don’t let voters off that easy. If nothing else there have been plenty of primaries where more participation could have helped fix that problem. It’s a two way street.

Today they are. Back then? Not so much. In the primary where Obama beat Hillary, Hillary’s campaign did some pretty horrendous race baiting - as did Biden. Obama in turn voted for the defense of marriage act. Bill Clinton shredded federal safety net programs, exported jobs, betrayed unions, and deregulated Wall Street. He was getting ready to go after Social Security with Newt Gingrich too, before they fell out over the Monica Lewinsky scandal.
The Democratic establishment is exactly as progressive as the base is able to force them to be. Everything else is gaslighting.
Trump didn’t want the deal. He wanted to end the filibuster then use domination tactics to essentially cancel the midterms. He’s only talking about caving on the subsidies now as damage control for Republicans.
