Having a choice means being able to make the wrong one, as we did.

It’s so hard for me to remember peoples names. I gotta associate something they do with what their name sounds like to stand a decent chance. It’s honestly nothing personal either. I’ll remember everything else you say and do but for some reason, not your name.
You aren’t wrong in that the democrats prefer the status quo but it’s far from both sides being the same. If we have to pick a side, and if we are still pro democracy, we do, there is only one correct choice.
Now if we can convince that side to then use the victory to change the rules, then so be it. For example, Ranked choice voting would be great, but let’s get more states to use it before expecting the highest office in the land to adopt it.
He has the same problem I have at work. When everything is going well, no one really knows. The servers keep running and everyone is happy with IT, but after a while, people start to question what it is we are doing.

2·2 years agoOn one hand, you don’t want purely state controlled media. On the other hand, you don’t want privately owned profit-driven media. The answer lies somewhere in the middle but how do you protect it from corruption?
She’s so gonna end up a “news anchor” one day, huh?

2·2 years agoThe problem is their aren’t enough of them willing to speak up so the few that might don’t wish to lose their power, so they remain quiet convincing themselves they are doing the right thing by “living to fight another day”.
It basically means they don’t understand the rules of the game. If they are willing to learn, cool, but many are not.
They need to understand that their logic is flawed. If they won’t, they will not make the right choice anyhow.

They have been working on the dashboards a fair amount recently but if you’re expecting a brand new look, that isn’t likely to happen. They recently hired the guy behind “bubble cards”, who has then put a lot of work into the stock UI’s tile card. It’s pretty obvious this is the direction they intend to continue.
However it’s very extendable with themes and there is even some project that uses some entire closed source frontend for their dashboards. I forget the name of it though, but it might be worth looking into for you.

1·2 years agoI’ve also been using Speech-to-Phrase, which has a limited number of supported phrases BUT works much faster than the 4s, so it’s a good tailback when the primary methods aren’t working.

2·2 years agoTo answer your question, yes.
However, I’ve found that unless you’re going to host your own AI engine with a GPU, you’re stuck with OpenAI or Google Gemini. Luckily I’ve been able to use both with just the free tier.
Whisper and Piper run locally although Piper is a little slow on the green for my tastes. 4 second responses work, but are also frustrating when you’re not sure if it heard you or not. You’re also stuck with just the built in intents (phrases) so you need to be specific in how you say stuff.
Ultimately I set up a cloud based and a local based voice workflow and then I setup a ping probe to a IPs. If I detect the internet is up, it uses the cloud workflow. If the internet is down, it swaps to local to keep the house voice controlled.

Unfortunately the media, celebrities, and corporations still use that crap, so others do too.
