No! Electoralism can never work! Iterative progress is literally impossible and harm reduction is a pointless goal! It’s actually bad when good things happen because that means people are less willing to burn everything down and accept beautiful Anarchy overnight!

I prefer my substance control to be based on evidence, not vibes.
It’s an observation on existing social mores, funeral garb is expected to be fairly modest. There’s social value to fitting in with norms.

101·10 months agoThe plan is never armed warfare on equal terms against the full might of the national military. It’s for Proud Boys, the Klan, Zimmerman and Rittenhouse, countless other real threats that want to see Democrats and minorities dead. It’s for the implicit threat that keeps right-wing authorities from pushing too hard.
Need the military to be on board for actual revolution.
And of course keeping them in class is terrible for every other student but you have to keep those metrics up!

7·11 months agoWe aren’t even at “Registered Republican Bathroom Only” levels of division yet. (Incidentally, sundown towns still exist in this country)
The Civil War never really ended because we never actually dealt with the traitors. We compromised on slavery and now we have more slaves than we ever did when a man could own another man, we just need to throw them in jail first. John Brown was right.
To some extent losing anonymity is the cost of living in a society. Owning property, the entire financial system, the entire legal system, huge portions of civizilation depend on reliable identification.
Scanning cards is fine with me as long as it’s just a validity check but I can’t say I trust Kroger to not build a database of spending habits, for example, so to some extent I share your discomfort. But I think it’s a small concern compared to the way we use cards to pay for everything now. Cash is the king of anonymous consumption.

144·11 months agoWe’ve always been divided. Natives against colonizers. White against black. Slavers against abolitionists. Urban against rural. “Communists” against “real Americans.”
Unity had always been a lie, a story, an excuse for a slow compromise that keepa the landowners ahead.
You’re gonna have to elaborate on that point. Do you think some products shouldn’t be age-restricted? Do you think it should just be honor-system? Are you simply a profoundly private person and resent that another human knows your name and age?

“Men who are high value men like Stephen Miller take risks, they’re brave, they’re unafraid, they’re confident, and they’re on a mission,” Watters said. “And they have younger wives with beautiful children.”
These people are completely broken.

14·11 months agoI think you’re right, Joe Rogan is like a perpetually stoned teenager. His mind is easily blown and he enjoys that feeling but he also likes the way cash smells and is easily manipulated.
I don’t know how many concepts are actually cemented in his head enough to form ideals and I would never accuse him of being a good person, but he’s clearly a different kind of stupid than the malicious cruelty seen in so many right-wing chuds.

It’s cursed because comic writers couldn’t come up with a better way to explain why the city can’t be fixed by the world’s smartest billionaire.

They should be trying things with a chance of success, like public messaging.

If the rest of the world doesn’t learn from our example I’m gonna be very disappointed. Your government needs real checks and balances, actual power in the hands of citizens rather than billionaires.
