politics @lemmy.world•Gavin Newsom surges in 2028 presidential primary pollEnglish
255·1 year agoI am very willing to debate this leading up to and during the primaries, but once those are done I am going to vote against the GOP no matter who is on the ballot.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•I self hosted a World of Warcraft server.English
7·1 year agoI have read that modern servers have np. Bots you can add so you can do dungeons and stuff. I haven’t tried myself. Would love to find a guide on how to set up a Linux host.
I would look into Tailscale based on your responses here. I don’t know what your use case is exactly but you set TS up on your server and then again on your phone/laptop and you can connect them through the vpn directly. No extra exposed ports or making a domain or whatnot.
If you want other people to access the server they will need to make a TS account and you can authorize them.
Hah, the more you know.
Did they take a RvB joke and put it to pictures of Zim? Or did they do the same joke in both?

13·2 years agoI’m excited to see what the refactoring will allow the dev team to produce. Technical debt is a really good thing to clean up but there might be some growing pains in the mid term.

1·2 years agoI have had good luck with my two shields. I have both the tube one and the flat one. I have given thought to building a new client box out of either a mini or a shield or something, but the Android TV client is really good.

12·2 years agoThis is awesome. I would like to learn more about video segments. What is the best way to tag them? Is it something that can be done with MKVtoolNix or are there automatic tools available?

politics @lemmy.world•Walz: ‘The Electoral College needs to go’English
13·2 years agoIf it is equal representation, why does having districts make the rural vote heard? Whether it is one person one vote or 100,000 people one vote it won’t make a difference.
Everyone will still have their representatives and senators to hear them. In fact I think we need to increase the number of representatives. It needs to be a number that a person can reasonably represent. Say 50 or 100 thousand people per representative. This would also help with gerrymandering as having a lot of small districts would make everyone’s voice louder.
But for national positions like the president, we should have proportional votes, preferably with getting rid of first past the post that got us stuck with the two party system to start with.

politics @lemmy.world•Update: Nothing illegal here. Virginia reused envelopes from last year. English
3·2 years agoMy county in Washington state has a website where you can check the status. I even get text or email notifications for the status. “We received your ballot”, “the signature was verified”, “your vote has been counted”.
There was even a problem with my signature once and all I had to do was log in and verify it and it was counted.

Political Memes@lemmy.world•Republicans love DEIEnglish
26·2 years agoHonestly we should set it so Wyoming has like 5 reps and then use that as a baseline. Increase the total number of reps 10 times and make each district manageable for one person to campaign in.
This would negate the problems with the electoral college and make gerrymandering much harder to pull off.

This is why staying out of politics is usually in a business’s best interests. There is no winning move where pissing off one side or the other is a good thing for $$$
