33·9 months agoDidn’t care about the specifics of a particular one over another. My take is that promoting the ‘fix’ of something via chemical intervention that wasn’t a widespread problem until relatively recently is the wrong approach.
This is not something caused by genetics or some novel disease targeting the USA public, it’s a change in recent decades of our diets and lifestyles.
Pills and shots of any sort are only masking the underlying issue, regardless of their mechanism.

24·9 months agoWhich is quite a lot of words to say eating too much no-nutrition highly processed fast food/easy-prep bullshit.
I’m not disagreeing in the least that the mass of HFCS and salt laden garbage is a big driver of it. However, those things only are allowed to become the staples of our diets that they have because people are too complacent and willing to open the freezer rather than do a bit of whole food kitchen work.
I’ve made it a point to learn what I can to avoid the loss of capability to make decent food for ourselves. As I say to my kids, I worry there’ll be a day when Grandma’s famous thanksgiving pie comes in a box from Sarah Lee.

521·9 months agoThe workings of any particular variant are largely irrelevant.
In effect it still promotes the idea that rather than eat better and live healthier that your problems should be solved with a pill or shot.
Edit: Since diet and exercise are so unpopular here, I’ve yet to see anyone explain how it is that the average obesity rate in the USA has grown so significantly over the past century in anything beyond a ambiguous ‘medical condition’ or ‘genetics’.
The makeup of the human species hasn’t so dramatically evolved over the course of a few generations, that’s simply not how evolution works, but somehow despite supposedly nobody overeating and everyone getting plenty of good exercise we’ve gotten to a point where Americans are globally stereotyped as being big fat slobs.

325·9 months agoMaybe? I dunno, seems a way for people to treat it as a get out of guilt free card. Some types work as stimulants to promote burning more calories rather than helping minimize intake.

925·9 months agoSo keep jabbing yourself full of weight loss drugs so you can consume more empty fast food calories.
In the mean time, vaccines bad and should be hidden. It was less than a year ago when the health department made some sense.

11·10 months agoHas worked well for me, but keeping in mind that email is probably about the hardest thing to properly self host.
DMARC/DKIM/SPF/MX records have to be set up properly, DNS for auto config and such preferable, and dealing with a myriad of mail IP blacklists (good monitoring service for free: https://mxtoolbox.com/) all come into play.

24·10 months agoDespite Trump’s slide in approval ratings, he’s holding up well with his base – 9-in-10 Republicans continue to say they approve of the job he’s doing.
I would guess that a not insignificant portion of this could be called ‘sunk costs’. As in, people not wanting to admit their wrong choices and holding the line out of stubborn pride.

Depends on a few things. If you actually put the site ‘through’ cloudflare then they act as a SSL offloading proxy and could read the content.
If they’re just providing a DNS record than no, that just points people in your direction.

1·10 months agoIt can make a big difference just in the processing power needed if there’s anything more intense than a straight firewall. IPS tend to be a resource pig. What are the load numbers saying vs the number of CPU cores available?
I ran into similar (or even worse) choking trying to get it virtualized even with a proper passthrough that I eventually shelved but might take another run at someday. Knocking a couple hundred watts off the stack is always welcome.

I’ve never met a Somali that wasn’t a friendly sort having lived here my whole life. Had one bring in some of these pretty awesome dumpling things called sambusa(?) once to work just cause reasons. Very chill bunch far as I’ve ever seen.
