Death penalties are dangerous because words are ultimately meaningless, and as we’ve seen in the misinformation age, people of a particular political party (in the US) can call people pedophiles in name when there is no actual evidence that’s the case. Truth has gone by the way side.

Republicans have been completely aligned since Trump came into office. Democrats instead have had spoiler candidates that have almost completely ruined their plans in the Biden Admin.
We should be focused on primary-ing out the moderates and establishment candidates in the party. Yes the DNC always has the ability to shut shit down as they did in 2016 with Bernie, but if the movement is strong enough, I wager that won’t matter.

I agree that FPTP is shit and we need something different. Most Americans are too loyal, stupid, or apathetic to care about a random 3rd party on the ballot.
We need name brand recognition with people, and you do that will the Democrats. What we also need is a coalition of progressives in the Dems that actively politick about working class issues like Bernie Sanders to counter the moderates.
Third party won’t work in a FPTP system.

Rights are a human construct. They don’t exist in nature.
When we fight to construct them, we must fight to keep them. In a representative democracy, our representatives are the ones who are supposed to fight for us. But when they fail, that responsibility falls back to the average, everyday, common person.
The struggle to keep our rights moreso has to do with getting people off the couch to stand up for what they believe in. In an apathetic society glued to their toys and treats, their bread and circuses, it’s that much easier for other humans with wishes to collect their own power to dismantle that of the majority.

The main webpage for Prop 50 says that the gerrymandering that will come prior to the California 2026 midterm elections is a direct response to Republicans’ gerrymandering in Texas to gain 5 more seats in the House of Representatives. This gerrymandering would not happen if Republicans didn’t do it first.
Prop 50 also says that these new election districts will be nullified in 2030 with the new US Census.
