Posting a vibe instead of understanding what you‘re posting. Like republicans playing Born in the USA because of the refrain and not understanding the lyrics.

21·11 months agoMost Americans did not vote for Trump.
Here’s how it works: US Population, adult over 18: ~250 million.
Of that population, ~244 million are eligible to vote.
Of eligible voters, only 63.9% voted.
Of the 63.9%, less than half, 49.8%, went to Trump.
To re-emphasize that point, Trump did not get more than 50%.
As far as not voting against trump being a vote for trump, I’m not going to entertain that at all. Might as well say they were for Putin to be president, the flying spaghetti monster to be president, whatever.

21·11 months agoA vote for none is still a vote.
No it isn’t. what a ridiculous concept. Then everyone who didn’t vote voted for Harris, and therefore the country voted for Harris.
The majority of Americans were supportive of a second trump presidency.
Buddy, keep jerkin’ yourself off with that if it makes you feel better. I can tell you’ve looked at zero polls and voting numbers because you’re just making shit up.

32·11 months agoAgain. The MAJORITY of voters did NOT vote for trump. Read what I wrote. You are wrong. As for “not voting against trump”, that’s the same as not voting to keep the sky blue. You can’t prove a negative.

26·11 months agoOh good, let’s focus on voting and not things like gerrymandering and Citizens United. Or even the Electoral College. The candidate with the most money usually wins, so even if you change how voting works odds are it’s still gonna be a republican or democrat frontrunner.

They worship lies. The bigger the lie, the more they want it to be true.

102·11 months agoI dislike the unintentional association of “America” being those who support trump. America is not a trump supporter. 32% of the voting population does not constitute “America.” The majority of voters did not vote for trump.

Political Memes@lemmy.world•What the hell is even going on at this point?
10·11 months agoI’m starting to see shades of a relative I have in trump. Mind you, this person is very nice and I’m not trying to disparage them at all. They’re ADHD and probably in the early stages of dementia. They eat like shit. Using hocus-pocus dietary supplements because they know they eat like shit and think these are a fix. Constantly shifting what the latest great thing is - doesn’t matter what it is, food, clothing, a bit of tech, supplements, a media source… and thanks to their declining mental state it’s like the worst aspects are amplified. Wide emotional swings. Focusing on anything difficult like logical steps to return a purchased item via mail are super difficult.
While my relative’s swings are anti-trump if the subject comes up and the anger is focused on trump’s and the reich wing’s stupidity, it sure mirrors trump’s wild swings on everything, his raging about whatever, and his focus on what the latest interest is. Fixing anything like the Economy is too hard and too many steps, so he relies on whatever clueless mumbo-jumbo others tell him. Even the hocus-pocus health fix by using a snake oil salesman like Kennedy.

19·11 months agoThey only claim to love nature so they can kill it. They bitch about seasons and the government limiting what they can take. Just like they say they “love America” but want to mow down the forests that make it beautiful and pave over it with oil derricks and gas pipelines. The same way they’re all about “gun safety” but leave guns where they can be used for everything from accidental shootings to be stolen and used in crimes.
They don’t mean what they say.

4·11 months agoThinking is too shallow when it comes to this. Yes, there is absolutely the direct results: starvation, death, and malnutrition.
And for whatever reason people seem ok with that to save US $ and force the other country to pick themselves up by their bootstraps.
The shallow thinking avoids the indirect issues. The starvation leads to instability. The instability can cause war and fighting on a local level that can damage US interests and trade. It can spill over into neighboring countries causing the same issues. Increase radicalization and terrorism. They’ll blame the “West”, likely justifiably, for supporting some dictator that steps in to crush opposition yet protect the West’s interests in whatever resource they’re stripping from the country or ag product like chocolate they’re making people grind at growing and underpaying for. It could have the country(ies) switch allegiances to competitors like China. All of this can directly increase costs to the US or indirectly to the US via regional instability disrupting trade. That’s ok, they’ll just pass the cost on to consumers while business profits are protected. It beats spending any tax money on things.
This is typical reductionist and oversimplified thinking by the Right. Just punish people into changing behavior, nevermind the indirect costs.
