The problem with his argument, just to play devils advocate for what the right wing would say, is that local law enforcement has a responsibility to assist federal law enforcement to enforce federal laws even if they do not exist at the state level. The Supremacy Clause of the Constitution makes this very clear. With that being said, it is the role of the AG to resolve conflicts between state and federal law and from that perspective, they are also correct. At some point, it becomes a matter of what laws people choose to enforce, have the resources to enforce, or want to enforce or not for political reasons. This is kind of like the difference in federal classification of cannabis versus state classification of cannabis. If it is still illegal federally then in theory the feds can force the states to shut down cannabis shops and deport people. Just for clarity, the ancestors of the people being deported lived here long before the United States was created and have a right to be here and states have a right to determine the best path forward on cannabis. Just my personal opinion, but of course, even a state AG can have their opinion and there is always going to be a limit to their power. The Trump admin, Supreme Court, and Congress all on the other side of an issue makes it difficult to win. At the end of the day the truth is that there are not really any laws, the courts exist to determine things in favor of who has the most money, and money has bought everyone at all levels for a long time. It’s only what those in power choose to enforce, or how they choose to resolve contradictory state and federal laws, or how they are paid to decide how to resolve it, and so no laws really exist, it’s just up to whoever is in power at that point in time.

With parts of the left starting to doubt the 2024 election, you would think winning in 2024 would mean that the current administration has an incentive in upholding the integrity of all the past elections. After all, it’s not like the voting systems were all good for 2016, not for 2020 and then all good again magically in 2024. Either they are all bullshit or they are not.

I mean most of the election bullshit happens before the primaries even start with the gerrymandering and the forced choices in candidates, often being chosen by the business community (money) or smoked filled room party politics.

Many states never agreed with LGBT people having employment at all. Much of the history involves homelessness as a result of not being able to have sustained work because in many states, society would label and sabotage the ability for LGBT or people believed to be LGBT to have employment which is necessary to maintain housing. It was very much a sustained, methodical, approach that was taken. This is true going back to the Lavendar Scare in the Federal Govt, where like rooting out communists during the McCarthy era, they made sure to take all the Govt jobs away from anyone believed to be gay. Discrimination at work is a key means of taking away the right for someone to work.

Now they have many new weapons to enforce this end result in the lives of people living in the states that want to bring this back.

Forced Homelessness is the policy of many Governments and the DOJ in the United States as a means of punishing those they are after without any due process. Your ability to work or even have ID can be taken from you if they choose to do it. Your money can be taken. Your bank accounts can be frozen.

City, State and Federal Governments have been creating these zones where large numbers of homeless and poor people are forced into with a kind of virtual redlining. Usually, these are downtown areas in major cities, and then the system creates the ability to target them with systemic drug usage, even to the point of the government supplying pipes and needles for people to use. They are given just enough food to stay alive while forced into this position. No employers are going to hire anyone and it isn’t like it used to be where someone can just walk into a factory and make enough money in cash to live for a week.

In many ways it is a public execution system that just operates very slowly and you’ll only occasionally notice the dead body— which even are often not recorded as a death correctly, and it’s nothing you will see in the obituary sections of your newspapers. Imagine a system that lets tons of your former neighbors die slowly on the street while everyone walks by inside their little tech bubbles of safety, confident in the belief that it could never be them.

At some point, it’s really about your view of a human life versus your value of money. At some point along the way, it was decided that the amount of money someone has at that point in time determines their value as a person to even keep existing, or to have basic rights…

If Governments wanted to solve the problem, they could find a building to put people in, they could force drug rehab on some, others probably should be in jail. The ones willing and able to work should be given the opportunity, with a path out of the state imposed public execution systems, and back to a life where they are capable of taking care of themselves.

In my experience, the higher up you go in both parties, you tend to sort of arrive at the same places with the same people… and most importantly, the same donors and the same money machine. That’s the great thing about the U.S. dollar really, corruption and selling Govt from Citizens United to today sort of drives the bipartisan nature of it because it all greases the wheels of the two party political machine.

I’ve listened to several episodes of his podcast… I’ll probably continue listening but in the first episode Newsom basically kept saying he only got into college because his scores were low and he played baseball. Then he kept backing down to Charlie Kirk, Bannon, etc, while constantly saying he doesn’t know what to do and kept asking them for ideas. In the first episode, there was a moment where he said Jesus Fucking Christ or something to Charlie Kirk, which called him out on it. It’s like, the very voters he’s trying to go after will hear that and stop at the first episode. He will gain no allies on the right as he abandons the party he is supposed to believe in, along with the core values he is supposed to defend. He thinks having a podcast with right wing guests where he gets sort of transactional on the issues. Like, do you think giving up the trans in sports debate is going to win you anything when their entire side would like to see gay marriage go away entirely? While you claim to still even support that? Do these people even think any of this through?

If Newsoms approach is the best the Democrats have to offer, then it might be game over for a very long time…

You would think the GOP and right wing in the U.S. would have put the main culture war issue behind us after Barack Obama and the Roberts Supreme Court told them it’s all good now… But here we are…

This is a truly insane story and a very real example of an authoritarian police state. He is being arrested for expressing his opinion, which is not a crime, and the police will not state which crime he is accused of committing, only that due to his freedom of expression and speech, the State Department was told to revoke his visa. Which apparently puts someone into a nightmare situation of being transported to a private prison in another state while waiting to be deported. Which might be able to all be done without ever charging him with a crime, much less proving anything in a court of law. The only thing is the false accusation he is a Hamas supporter of some kind, which itself isn’t even a crime unless you send them money. Being against a genocide or forced exodus is not about being for the government of the place being targeted. It’s a false equivalence. In fact, in the United States, you have the right to support reprehensible groups like Hamas. Just ask the State Department, Mossad, the CIA and others, who for many years financially supported them as they ran Palestine. Obviously this changed after October 7th, but it’s still a fact. Now you have this guy being targeted like a police state with no rights at all and who knows what will happen to him now.

It also says a lot that New York allowed him to be taken to Louisiana and put in a private prison without any charges being filed. I guess ICE can just do that without the normal process of an arrest and extradition. This of course would have required actually charging him with a crime. Rubio said it has to do with his reprehensive support of Hamas, which isn’t proven, then he went on to try to pin awful things Hamas has done on him. Even if he does support Hamas, which is wrong to do, it’s still an administration that is trying to bring back the nazi salute, saying you can’t openly support an anti-israeli regime. So much for the Constitution. And by the way, even on a student visa, just by virtue of being in this country you are afforded certain protections under the Constitution and due process must be one of those. Where’s the crime?
