Ah, so you admit schools are indoctrinating kids?

Well there’s two different things that people who relate to this picture may want: either the nature or the solitude (sometimes both); for the second, part of the fantasy is that they would never have to deal with anyone.
In reality what people want may be completely different, but the picture passes the message better.

Political Memes@lemmy.world•Well, we have the fucking camps opening. Luckily, plenty of terminally online leftists are ready to tell us how noble and moral not voting was!
41·1 year agoWhat people don’t realize is that the Dems have generally been pretty happy with the way things were going. They don’t mind losing elections from time to time if that means they continue to occasionally win without changing in any way.
It’s basically a fight of demands and consequences. If the people want a better government and threaten not to vote for Dems if they are not gonna get it, the Dems have to choose between improving or losing one election. If the Dems want to stay the same, the people have to choose between letting them stay the same or getting something much worse from the GOPs.
The question then becomes: on the long term, who can better endure the consequences of their choice, the people or the Democratic party?
If you want the Dems to lose and learn a lesson, you (and everyone else around you) will need them to continue losing until they do learn, otherwise you’ll be facing consequences without any benefits.
June and July deserve to share the same U too. In some languages it’s only the N/L that changes between them.
I had all of those symptoms with a migraine once, caused by caffeine withdrawal.
The last bullet point is not really that common anymore.
“except” is also used in Pascal (or at least the main derivatives of it), but not sure if that’s older than its use in Python or not.
It’s not that bad by default, it just gives it a disadvantage in terms of performance, but if you care about it you can still make it run smooth and be not-that-heavy. Microsoft just doesn’t.

If he’s only looking at the front page, why is he even buying the newspaper? Can’t he see it just by walking in front of the place?
I wish it was true here. Major releases are always the most shameful ones because so much is always left to “we can fix that later”

1·2 years agoBut other countries do have protests and riots for a lot less. I think the reason it doesn’t happen in America is mostly because of the lack of organized unions and stuff like that.
Where I live if some law suggested doctors could be facing jail time for providing care to someone who had a miscarriage, it wouldn’t take a week for doctors to go on strike, which would probably be organized by their union. And even anti-choice doctors would strike too.

5·2 years agoI wish I could say that people would riot before that happen, but these days I think that Americans will just take whatever the government does to them and at most will make some memes on the internet about how fucked up they were.
Back when roe V wade was overturned I still thought “this is gonna be the straw” but nope, nobody did anything at all, not even any minor protest.
America just doesn’t have any structure for fighting back. With just two parties and barely any relevant unions for anything, there’s nobody willing to organize anything to push back.
I think a good representation would be to put the trolley already running over Palestine and then having to choose between keeping things as they are or adding the others + speeding up the train.
Or, changing the premise a little further, show the person as choosing between continuation, upgrade and using his own body to derail the trolley.
I get what you mean, but I think the point behind this image is not to say that doing what you call the “bare minimum” is enough, but to try and get more people to actually do that bare minimum.

Oh Honey, do you really think it matters if he “has the power” to do it or not?
