Ah yes, because the mayor of a city should be elected or not because of their opinions on a completely different country, not the policy in the city they’re running for. That makes a whole lot of sense.

Memes@lemmy.ml•Craycray what liberals will do with a simple change of flags
269·1 year agoSo Russia is invading? That alone, pretty much regardless of the reason, is enough to side with Ukraine.
But that reason, even if true, is one of the stupidest reasons to invade. A softer, more propaganda focused approach would be both far more effective and far less costly, in both lives and resources. So either Russian leadership is so useless that an invasion is the best they can come up with, or they’re invading to take over Ukraine. Incompetent to the point of malice, or malice. Take your pick.
And based on what Marx said, likely due to an opioid overdose.
It’s interesting to see nazi flags as the people criticizing the “socialist” countries, when the nazi party called themselves the “national socialist” party. They were only slightly worse at doing the socialism part than China and ussr

Memes@lemmy.ml•If bombs are going to drop, at least have them drop on imperialists 😊
174·1 year agoThe point is “Russia can’t do the bad things because America does all the bad things and Russia isn’t America”. Because America being evil and Russia being evil are mutually exclusive of course.

To make it even worse
Mods should be an improvement on a good game, not a fix on a bad one
My brain just went to “you were trying to cross the border right? Same as us, and that thief over there”
There’s also the “0.25 × 4” thing. ε is set to 0.25, and φ is set to 4. No nuance, no thought about how the economy actually works. Just make it so they can pretend they’re thinking about it how demand will change.
Ah yes, because the eastern front never happened
I would honestly love to see something like Paul’s letters, but addressed to the modern American church. Paul didn’t mess around when the churches were acting up.

Memes@lemmy.ml•There are also no good Switch games (I refuse to buy any and only download the free ones from the eShop)
2·2 years agoI’ll go and add Slay the Spire and Dominaria to the list.

22·2 years agoMobile games do (mostly) suck though.
A. For controls, power, and screen resolution, mobile is just the worst. If a game on mobile tries to imitate a controller, it takes up a while lot of screen space. If touch is used more like a mouse, I’ve never seen a game that needs touch specifically.
B. Mobile is a better platform for the shitty pocket casino games. When it’s impossible to leave the device at home, it’s much easier for a game to develop an addiction. That’s why mobile games like clash of clans get users paying upwards if $100,000.
Probably better wording is a minimum wage shouldn’t be needed
It had just been long enough that I forgot about that shit. Now you had to go and remind me.
I return the favor.
THE GAME
A. Please tell me exactly where I said Biden was anything more than a mildly less shit alternative to Trump. And please tell me where I was saying support the genocide, rather than support one of the people who supports the genocide.
B. I have not been talking about what Biden should have done. I have only been talking about what voters should have done.
A. I hate to do this, but
The audience I wish to reach doesn’t need their hand held as a child
Strawman, saying that this is about “leading people like they’re children” not “clear and effective communication as equals”
B. What I’m talking about is proactively sharing your views, both to save time on questioning and to fill gaps that others would have never thought to ask about. Please, tell me why this isn’t a needed part of discussion.
The point of teaching is sharing knowledge, not just poking holes in whatever argument you can (intentional hyperbole, not strawman)
The point of learning fallacies isn’t so that you can just name them and feel like you’ve made a point.
strawman
Instead of just “strawman, therefore you’re wrong” and leaving it at that, how about you explain what was incorrect in that statement. That way you become more understood, and everyone understands you more.
This isn’t a courtroom debate. This isn’t a debate you “win” or “lose”. This is a debate where everyone should be trying to understand each other, so that everyone ends up better off by the end. This sort of debate is a cooperative thing, not competitive.
That’s the question I answered.
Which would you rather support?
- Genocide
- Genocide + fascism + other bad shit (probably including genocide 2)
Pick one or give an alternative and a good reason that it will have some effect.
The lesser evil in this situation is genocide without all the other shit, and supporting that is therefore damage control

A stopped clock is right twice a day. America has a terrible and corrupt government, but that doesn’t mean they’re wrong about not trusting china’s government.
