UBI is a great idea, but it allows people to take risks. Including the risk of forming a union, protesting in a larger way and so forth. That sort of happened with the Hippies in the US. It was easy to get a job, so people used that to earn some money, quit and enjoy themself for a longer period.

First of all the fabs are among the most complex projects in the world and the Taiwanese will just blow them up. China can do nothing about that. The workforce of those fabs will also try their best to move abroad. That is also why the US is building those fabs, so they can just have the Taiwanese work in those fabs.

Also Taiwan is a nightmare to invade. It is obviously an island, so you need to ship over the soldiers. We have seen in Ukraine, how fairly cheap seadrones can destroy ships and this is going to happen to China as well. Then Taiwan itself is either densly populated meaning urban warfare, which is really bad or it is a bunch of densly forested mountains, which might be even worse. Add to that sanctions and very likely problems with shipping and this is an insanely expensive thing to do. No amount of chip production is going to save China in that case.

Invading Taiwan is a very dumb idea indeed. I hope China is smart enough to not go for that.

This is why everybody is making “deals” with Trump. Those are legally non binding, but keep Trump from throwing even higher tariffs at them. The hope is the Democrats actually win the Midterms and block Trump from doing worse. If it fails, then at least their companies can leave the US market. It is going to crash soon anyway, so probably both are going to happen.

Also there is a clear need for stable reliable trading partners. Given that one of the EUs largest is currently causing some trouble this is not going to happen.

Now they commit a genocide. That is not the only case of that happening. Genocides follow the creation of nation states all across the world. By definition a nation state is meant for only one nation. So a nation state is always racist. Just as is the idea of ethnicity, which inherintly leads to racism.

Also do not look at the donor list for the UNRWA, if you want to believe the recognizing Palastine is needed to send aid. Indeed I find it obvious to help fellow human beings, without having to recognize state or ethnicity. Not doing so, seems to me to be a massive problem.

Right now the only thing keeping the US economy strong are speculative assets, like stocks. As soon as that drops, the US is in a world of trouble. There seems to be a housing crisis brewing in the south, with prices droping like crazy. At the same time international investors are leaving the US and the general economy is not doing too well. Unemployment goes up and tariffs raise prices.

The US going down is probably going to crash the global economy as well. China has built up a massive corporate debt bomb right now. When you are pushing twice the level of the US, you really have a problem. Europe is not doing to great either, with the Ukraine war still hurting and debt still being a massive problem.

So yeah, we might very well be in a recession right now, but just do not know it.

Sure, the US will have cheap workers, but high skilled migrants will prefer other countries. This is not just going to hit farm workers after all.

The Democrats used to be the racist pro slavery party. Then it got captured and turned into Roosevelts New Deal Democrats, which were obviously to the left of the Republicans. Not perfect, but they really did a lot of good.

This can be repeated, but it takes a lot of work.
