  • There’s a queer label that still fits me offline, but online queer communities have changed the definition to be so broad that I can’t feel comfortable using it anymore, nor feel any sort of belonging in those groups anymore.

I do worry it will slowly seep offline. So I know I need to be prepared for that. Words not having a clear, understandable definition makes communication extremely difficult and misunderstandings easy.

That in mind, I’ve also come to dislike labels, but for the reverse reason. Once used as a shorthand to communicate something clearly in a simpler one-word format that people can easily understand, now used as obscure terms that need more explaining once you say them. Defeating the entire original purpose.

I’ve adapted by throwing away the label, and only using a definition without need of a word attatched.

  • Fake housing listing. Said the key would be mailed because they weren’t in the area at the time, and wanted payment via some sort of money order or special check type or something (I forget exact details).

I needed to find a place quickly, with no idea how to do so or what I was doing, that would accept two people and multiple cats, on only my income (not a lot).

I got the wrong kind of payment, was able to get money back from that, and when I went to get the “right” kind of payment the cashier let me know it was a common scam.

  • He has 2 options.

First is the obvious saying that there’s nothing stopping him from running for a 3rd term, and once again using Jim Crow era vote suppression and other slimy tricks to win again.

The second option is to just declare that presidency is a for-life position. He can do that, after all.

And he’s making that last part perfectly clear. He is above the law. There are no consequences for him breaking the law, and nothing stopping him from doing whatever he wants. The people who could are so polite that if words won’t stop him, they say more words at him. That’ll do it!

  • For even more fun: agree. Then elaborate. Lean right on into the insult, flip it into a good thing, or a ‘oh thanks for pointing that out, I’ll reflect on that’ depending on the tupe of insult.

It’s amazing how MAD trolls get when you remain calm and treat ad homenim as either a compliment or means to self-reflect.

Watching them try more and more insults, getting angrier and angrier, until they just give up. It brings me joy!
