Basically the IPFS is not performat enough for Social Media, and project has connections to crypto.

After this, I’ve started a classical forum (flarum)
NodeBB recently added fediverse support

Mastodon for personal use: not so much as replies don’t federate with main tweet.
Mastodon for small group: Maybe.
Lemmy: If you want to host a CDN-like node then yes,
but not everyone likes forum style discussion.
I didn’t use Frendrica Sharkey or Pixelfed enough to form my own opinion.
Don’t worry we all made similar mistakes when switching to fediverse.
It was already discussed and bashed here: https://lemmy.world/post/23704373
The user in the screenshot not the OP

Depends on the threat model.
NOAA and others gets underfunded/change of menagement and need to close down open access to stuff.
or
Data becomes illegal to possess and feds start knocking on Web Archive doors.
or
Web archive will do something stupid and will get sued/DDOSed
In only one very unlikely scenario it won’t be availble due to recent events. But still redundancy would be good regardless of recent stuff.

they have an automatic VM that dowloads stuff in distributed manner and uploads to archive.org
There is !canvas@toast.ooo and it’s open source.

(There are more clones of r/place after 2016 so maybe other one will be better like OurWorldOfPixels)
If you set a background to your town of choice I would guess it will be close enough for a group of friends.
