  • The Matrix was right, humanity cannot tolerate it when things are good. That is how you get the OP image of 1000 different plots against the status quo.

Humanity performs best when collectively rising to defend against an external threat.

It is a strength that gets used against us when we install leaders that create fake threats to motivate us.

But an actual external threat usually makes humanity better.

Canada is improving right now as the entire country comes together in shared resistance to Donald Trump. He is probably making the EU better too actually.

You know, this may actually change the way I think about him.

  • Trump was elected by a last minute surge of young, male, anti “woke” sexists.

I only bring this up to highlight the absurdity of claiming that Trump somehow represents wealth hoarding boomers. Hardly.

There are plenty of billionaires in red states but the largest percentage of “wealth hoarding boomers” are in the far wealthier blue states. They are not Trump voters. These are all easy facts to confirm.

  • Um. If I am old in a society that demands young people pay the expenses of old people (eg. Healthcare, housing, or interest on accumulated debt, then I can absolutely create a financial burden for my children. If we want to be pedantic, bankruptcy is the state of having financial obligations that you cannot bear. So, I can absolutely bankrupt my children.

  • Capitalism is fine with it actually.

The issue is that there will be too many old people and not enough young people to support them.

But old people have most of the money. So, lots of money will still be spent. Capitalism will be fine. Sure, some old people will have no money and bankrupt their children. But capitalism does not care about that.

It would have been a bigger problem before AI and robotics. But capitalism will shrink the workforce faster than birth rates.

  • Triumph of visual design over interactive design. These days, most “designers” only care about graphics visually. The much deeper science of how people use and understand things is beyond them. Worse, they think the problem is that everybody else does not “get” visual design.

    Style over substance.
