Right now, the ticket I think has the best chance of winning is Buttigieg/AOC. I think the DNC knows they need to go younger and have someone who can stand up to a bully in an eloquent and calm manner that will win over reasonable people. And I think AOC probably knows that the only way the DNC is letting a democratic socialist on the ticket is if they fall in line a bit and not come off as a firebrand who has to fix everything with drastic change and would be willing to go incrementally in the left direction. The DNC would be wise to energize the Bernie youth vote they abandoned last election cycle, but they definitely won’t give her the keys or their blessing alone which blows. This ticket gives you appeal to the youth, to the rational elder folks like even my 70 year old lifetime republican father who hates trump, the gay community, city folk, country folk, and of course veterans too. Pretty solid combo if you ask me.

Unbelievable that there are some Americans in politics that get off so much on being told ‘you owned a lib’ that they vote against their own interest and inspire baseless fear of normal human needs and rights.

Political Memes@lemmy.world•Mark my words: they will put Kamala 2.0. or Gavin in the race for president instead of AOC or any other progressive.
202·1 year agoI still feel like the dnc is going to lean heavy into Buttigieg. He’s young, an eloquent speaker, a sharp debater. He clearly is down to play ball with the dnc establishment as they want him to (stepped aside for Biden to get a cabinet position) , and they hope that he’s baggage free enough (Kamala and her Marijuana prosecutions) that progressives will vote for him. Yes, he’s gay, and the hardcore magats won’t like that, but I think older suburban voters would rather have someone sane that’s gay than insane and straight.

15·2 years agoI have a Dyson smart air purifier / heater combo in my room. It has a mostly real time app that shows whether the air is healthy or unhealthy. One night I was laying in bed and felt some gargantuan ass thunder brewing, so I aimed my cheeks toward the Dyson and watched gleefully as my air quality went from green to red. Technology is amazing.

3·2 years agoSucks to be Matt Gaetz. I don’t say that in relation to this news really, I bet it just sucks to be Matt Gaetz like every day.
I’d imagine he won’t get nominated for anything else per se, but he’ll just be a senior advisor or some bullshit. He’ll absolutely still be in the white house, in Trump’s ear.
They don’t see what he’s done and what he’s said. The people that put him over the edge this time were targeted for being ill-informed and tempted by magic wand campaign promises like “no tax on tips” or dumb things like gold sneakers. They aren’t watching informed news or doing research about his past performance. They’re simply voting on vibe alone and have been heavily targeted on social media to make them think everything sucks and he’s the only one who can fix everything when in fact he’s the complete opposite of them.

10·2 years agoI fear it won’t be centralized just in Washington this time and they could try to take many state houses that simply aren’t prepared as the Capital clearly will be. There was a clip of two men walking away from Jan 6 that haunts me. They were remarking on what an incredible day it was, and one of them says, “but next time we bring the guns”. If 100k armed idiots people show up at the Capital looking for a ‘revolution’, cops aren’t going to be enough. And even worse if they take to local streets looking for anybody who opposes them. I hope the fever doesn’t get that high, but I’ll for sure to be staying far away from any of those crazies for a while.

21·2 years agoI’ve also been thinking and expecting that they will create their own fraud this time. Evidence is what they were missing last time around. So imagine this time, drop boxes get flooded with phony ballots that they themselves put in for Kamala. Then they can point the finger and say “See! We told you so!” and it’s enough for the state legislations not to certify and call things into question.

I think the bigger problem isn’t that she’s a young talented woman and America isn’t ready for that, I think the DNC is too stupid to ever let it happen even if it means winning because she likely won’t play as much ball with them as they’d want. My money is still on the DNC pushing Buttigieg. I believe they will offer any major opponents the same kind of offer I believe he got when he was crushing Biden in the early states. Drop out, make way for the anointed one, and we’ll give you a cabinet position and a shot down the line (maybe). The DNC will absolutely go younger, but I do not believe they’ll ever go progressive, which is why they will never get my vote again until they do.
