Right learning, something you should do about mercantilism.
Because in the modern world it’s really a competition between capitalism and mercantilism, and self congratulating the capitalist nations on beating communism seems like masturbation to me.
I’m talking about mercantilism. China just happens to be the biggest country that does it. Just like the US is the biggest one doing capitalism. Communism isn’t really even on the board so not sure why people like you keep bringing it up.
Also, honestly I don’t know if it’s better. I just know it’s different and at least we should try to understand.
It’s not capitalism though. Economists have even given it it’s own name. It’s called mercantilism. It doesn’t help when we just make everything binary.
Is it? I mean it’s clearly working well enough that the other capitalist nations are saying their capitalism is unfair. But really it’s a totally different system, and we’re not going to understand it if we just call it capitalism with Chinese characteristics.

When you see shit like this happening, it’s both sides agreeing to have a show. It’s performative. So what you really need to ask is, who is this show for and why. These old fossils are following orders, we need to figure out who’s giving them.

Uh, I’m pretty sure we are already seeing water wars. The India Pakistan conflict has a large amount due to India blocking the Indus river. China’s south China seas claims is largely over control of bodies of water. The reason Turkey cares so much about Syria is because of the Eufrates basin. Hell, even Trump’s wildly insane conflict over Greenland is over the artic water ways. And that’s a short list. I’m pretty sure we are screwed…
That’s way too difficult a question to answer. But that said my theory is USA will have a lost decade like Japan. The distrust and broken agreements should have decades long effects. Can USA get back to where they were? Maybe, but no matter what now, it’s going to take decades.
The biggest issue I have isn’t that they’re evil. Though obviously that’s a huge issue, but that they are woefully incompetent. We’ve seen this type of evil before in the USA. Richard Nixon is obviously well known to be a greedy goon. But he did it in a way people didn’t really see it until after he was impeached. Trump is way too obvious for his own good. Though, maybe that’s a good thing… Burn it down asap
