  • I think he’s very good at political discourse regardless of side. He probably did pay lip service to make the situation agreeable so he didn’t come out with a powerful enemy.

It’s a wise move even if most would not be humble enough or secure enough to present themselves in a way that let’s them continue on with their agenda, while also making trump think he’s the “top dog”.

I’m not concerned about Mamdani so far. If he manuvered trump into a friendly position without compromising his objectives and positions, that’s expert politicking rather than a point of concern.

  • No? Centrism in the US is skewed too far to the right for me to considered it centrist anymore. Even if adjusted for the skew though I’m not sure I’d find it a good platform. I’d like to see Mamdani as NYC mayor, and other progressive candidates winning their respective elections.

I was calling this hope-baiting because the same kinds of articles always creep up right before any election. “Ohhh look, dems could win! It’s looking bad for the GOP!” only for a bunch of voters to pull out foot guns and not vote, and then see another stooge put into a seat of power.

I am at a point where I don’t feel entitled to any hope. And I don’t want to see people deluded by articles that give a false sense of security that the next vote will oust a bastard and install a decent human. Complacency will doom the whole effort. Make people think it’s in the bag, and fewer will turn out to vote thinking things will be fine without them.

Every single vote will matter in fighting against this bald tyranny facing us now.
