So glad actual hitler was defeated by voting against him.

The people who make compromises with the Nazis have convinced you that voting is the most important and only tool at your disposal.

Sure looks like the left has been growing in numbers from my time in leftist orgs. I’m also not sure the likelihood of the heritage foundation taking a chance on accidentally initiating Black Panthers 2.0 in the US.

Just because you don’t agree with people on this platform, you should probably understand that lemmy, a place that can’t be swayed by an algorithm controlled by billionaires, and notably created by communist developers, would attract other communists here. You came into our space questioned our legitimacy here. The fuck

Brits need to stop implementing inferior (though accessible) standards, then after abandoning them when realizing their mistake, make fun of others using the previous standard. Don’t let anyone find out you used to call association football “soccer” to be distinct from rugby football or still measure some things in imperial stones.

Non-brits, this isn’t directed at you lol. I know imperial measurements suck

If your food, water, healthcare, housing, etc weren’t paywalled, doing what you love wouldn’t need to be commodified*. If people work on life saving vaccines, they shouldn’t have to worry about how they will pay for things they need. The builder that builds the house of the person developing vaccines shouldn’t have to worry about how they will pay for the things they need. The person cutting lumber for the builder shouldn’t have to worry about how they will pay for the things they need.

*the caveat here is that the work either has to be deemed by society to be necessary work or that this is the only work you’re able to do or if “the thing you love” isn’t writing think pieces trying to destroy this system of de-commodification.

  • Yeah I’m currently on sequoia. Setting it up was pretty obnoxious from what I remember. I had to do it 3 times before my computer recognized it, but if you follow directions better than me (and if your specific tablet is supported), you should be good! If you have a friend on a newer version of Mac OS, see if you can test on their computer before upgrading your own since it might be very difficult to downgrade.

Nah the internet sucks no matter where you live. That cottage with a closed network or something like Secure Scuttlebutt/Manyverse in a little village would be cool though. The town library can have gigabit internet (for downloading media) and a shared local Jellyfin (& calibre, Navidrome, audiobookshelf, etc) server that can be accessed by anyone in town.

Want to play Live Service or online games? To the library. Publish your website or music album or artwork outside of the local loop? To the library. Online classes? To the library.

I mean, just because it might not be generative AI doesn’t mean it isn’t photoshopped to hell and back. The height of the camera (as well as the subject) kind of points towards staged rather than a casual photo, so photoshopping something together doesn’t seem out of the question in that context.

On the other hand, gen ai could be trying to mimic a weirdly photoshopped picture but was surprisingly accurate in things it’s usually awful at. Who knows.
