I had a Philippine friend who kept getting called Mexican in high school, and the same people who said that are voting for Trump. Extract from that what you will.

For these people, brown skin = Mexican. Kind of like how they attacked Sikhs after 9/11.

They don’t actually care about the difference, they just want to hurt brown people.

Teens are a really bad workforce to rely on. It’s always been understood that kids work for their own benefit, and the business just happens to benefit from that. They need a savings so they can move out on their own when they graduate. This isn’t for their benefit, this is so companies can fuel their needs for wage slaves.

I hadn’t really gave it much thought, but the coloration of the hat is pretty similar to the arm bands. At this point, I’m not convinced it was an accident.

Using a slur is unfortunately protected speech. You can walk into the middle of a supermarket and shout the N word and not be arrested. Calling someone a slur is hate crime, and is absolutely not protected. If your manager calls you a slur, you can sue him. And other similar examples.

I’m glad the EU seems to be stepping up to bat, at least. Can’t say how well that’s going to work out in the long term, though.
