Other than that you’ll have to test out what fits your needs best. I use YunoHost and am happy with it, but I don’t expose my services. Backup and update procedures are barebones and I had to do some scripting myself

12·11 months agoI use Track & Graph from F-Droid for a similar purpose. I noticed pretty quickly that the data I want to track just isn’t generic enough to find a tailored app for it. So I setup several reminders through the app to enter the various measurements at set points in time each day and get a nice graph to dislay it.

At the least you would know it’s happening and that you’ve been compromised. A hoster might also be inclined to be a lot more accommodating than you are. And mass information requests do happen. You wouldn’t even be targeted if you host locally. The privacy advantages are numerous

I recently switched from radicale to baikal. Both are straight forward no frills caldav / carddav managers. Baikal has a more modern UX. My switch came from choosing to use YunoHost to simplify my home server management
If your main motivation is never going through that kind of digital loss, please please please do yourself a favor and do not rely solely on a local solution. If there’s a fire in your apartment, the best nextcloud setup isn’t going to do shit for you. Look up the 3-2-1 rule if you want to be safe.
What’s the sketchy part tho?
