Given how incredibly well the harris campaign was doing at first and the outpouring of bi-partisan support for shooting CEOs dead in the street immediately after the election, and the barnstorming success of mamdani, i think it’s safe the say harris lost because they took pelosi’s advice and tacked hard to the right, instead of solidifying their early victories by continuing to lean left.

I have often thought that if i got a bunch of money i’d make sure not to move house, quit my job or otherwise change my lifestyle. I’m also neurodivergent and quite devoted to avoiding ever excercising power and to ignoring authority as much as i can.

Realistically I suspect we’d get food delivered multiple times a day.

But of course i don’t think me-without-a-billion could ever really know what me-with-a-billion would do.

Not only do you have to be capable of immoral actions to amass that much wealth, but having power has all sorts of neurological effects.

People who gain power become less capable of empathy. If you gave a “good” person that much money, they would be less able to think about how their actions hurt others.

Democrat voters have consistently opposed israel’s genocide since before the election and only now are politicians shocked that they’re experiencing consequences from obeying their money instead of their base.

Not only are people like newsom and buttigieg just gaping voids of amoral ambition that cannot be trusted, but the system that’s supposed to direct their ambition towards what the public want has clearly not been working for their entire career. I was in a game with a secret were-rat who was constantly passing notes to the gm and then you’d wake up missing items or finding NPCs you liked dead and the player would angrily deny having anything to do with it. We all saw you pass a note.

Local election turnout is single digit to ~15% in big cities. It’s higher in rural areas, but still well below state and federal races.

15-20% is normal for a local election in Fairbanks, from what I read. So this would be higher than most population centers but low end of normal for this electorate.

Turnout was 15% per a local journalist’s blog. That’s lower than the 15-20% it normally is, but not crazy low.

Not explaining how this is a hallmark of authoritarian rule, but quoting the bullshit reasons the regime pretends to believe in is still a failing of the duty of the press.
