  • Good luck to those two. Unless a significant portion of the military and national guard reject orders they’re just going to get court martialed.

Basically if you’re in the army you HAVE TO obey orders. “I was just following orders” is enshrined as a legal defense for everything except overtly criminal acts like genocide, killing babies, etc… even if the order was otherwise illegal. On the other hand, disobeying an order you think might be illegal means you will be arrested and held until a judge decides if the order was legal or not.

The only way this works is if their fellow military members and National guard all refuse to obey these illegal orders to hurt their fellow countrymen.

Ranking free speech above tolerance is what causes this. He didn’t tolerate others, he actively argued that people, including children, should die for various terrible reasons. He broke the social contract. He was no longer entitled to tolerance or protection from being killed. You lose that protection the second you say someone else should be killed because of who they were born as.

This free speech supremacy nonsense is garbage. White supremacists should not be tolerated in civil society. People who advocate for others to die (based on who they were born) deserve people advocating for and pursuing their death in return as self defense. You don’t get to get away with stochastic terrorism then pretend you didn’t do anything wrong.

Not to mention that this has been the biggest story this week. You’d have to be living under a rock then just showed up to this thread to have only heard about this from this meme. Then their reaction, instead of thinking “hey this seems to be a popular topic let me punch it into a search engine to learn more, I have been out of the loop this week after all” is “well I may not have been paying attention to anything this week, but I’ve never heard of this so the burden of proof is on everyone else to prove it to me”

  • Exactly, we’re talking about two different things when comparing children’s sports and Olympic sports and it’s easy to conflate the two.

Olympic competition needs fair rules to ensure the best humanity can produce is rewarded. The rules are already there and they seem to be fair and supported by trans athletes. Politicians need to stay out.

In children’s sports it’s more important kids learn skills, fitness, cooperation, and find a sense of community. So unless there is a massive outlier, the rules should maximise inclusion over “fairness”. Politicians also need to stay out.

  • I don’t know why you’re conflating me with another person. You asked why people downvote without engaging with the argument. No one answered you. That includes Rhoeris. I took pity and gave you a detailed organised answer that was hopefully catered to ND comprehension styles, and you haven’t engaged with what I was saying. Since then all I’ve gotten from you is emotionally disregulated lashing out.

That being said Rhoeris is also discussing circumstantial commonality with Nazis not actually calling the person a Nazi.

If you don’t understand (or choose to ignore) the importance of context over content in NT human interactions you’ll always be confused about what people downvote/upvote/react to and why.
