And yes that works to slowly trickle money up the wealthy while the poor get something for their spending.
But today that doesn’t need to happen. Now the billionaires have bought enough politicians so that they get all the money without having to deal with the poors. They just get bills written (and passed) that trickle up everyone else’s tax money directly to them.

I agree but they seem to still be the generation that gets beat up by the media, though gen Z is starting to come into focus as the next generation that is “destroying everything!!!”
But first let’s make everything a family would need to raise a child (let alone 3 or 4) extremely expensive and gut any and all support for the mother and child.
Next complain that it’s avocado toast that is keeping the lazy Millennials from having kids!

24·1 year agoHonestly it wouldn’t be too little to late if the reps in the house and senate grew a spine and pushed back as well. But I think that they have had it too cushy for too long and don’t actually know how to govern.
I can’t see any other use for the money that was spent on this - we can all come together in harmony and peace now that women have finally flown into low earth orbit. /s

How do courts and the legal system actually enforce these decisions? I can’t see US Marshalls walking into the White House and handcuffing trump. So what is it that they can do, if anything?

14·1 year agoAnother data point (if you needed one) that republicans and billionaires only give a shit about something when it affects them personally.
Illegal deportations - not their problem
threats to journalists - not their problem
dehumanizing specific groups of people - not their problem
thousands of federal employees losing their jobs overnight - not their problem
defying constitutional amendments - not their problem
Fuck with their ability to hoard more money - Shit we need to do something!
This is a realization that I’ve come to:
that humans survive (and thrive) when there is a genuine organization based in part on empathy. When a human tries to disrupt this organization for their own gain then it’s in the best interest of the group to ostracize and remove that human from the group.

3·1 year agoI honestly think that both parties like to not be in power for this very reason. All the money and none of the responsibilities. Pretty sweet setup
It’s true that politicians don’t usually lead, they look to the voting base to see what they can do. I think the issue right now is that there isn’t (yet) a unifying leader that can mobilize a big enough population of people to make it impossible for the media to ignore. while I think smaller protests have their place they are useless if they don’t move to something bigger. And something bigger - that being millions of people filling the streets of multiple cities - won’t happen without a big charismatic leader like Martin Luther King, jr.
Yet the middle of the road, center right democrats that hold power see this as a challenge to their control. They only have to look to how the GOP was hollowed out by a big charismatic leader in trump. The more “moderate” republicans lost control to the more extreme right - the moderate democrats don’t want that and will do what they can to hold down that yet unknown person from gaining a voice for the left.

These fictional Democrats are organized, well funded, cohesive and seem to have a great long term strategy for ruining republicans. With an organization like that you’d think that they would be in control of the government?
